It's been really quiet on the forums and lists. So much so that one alumni emailed Xian and I to ask if we were dead or something!
We've been pretty distracted. Right after Astro Vancouver Xian and I went right into prep for my wedding, which rocked by the way. With that over, and some recharge time afterwards we're now starting to work on v5 conversion for Astro and 2009 planning.
I should mention that Xian was approached by GW at Games Day about doing an Astro in Nottingham. This has been talked about before but never came to much. We're pursuing them a bit more avidly this time and hopefully GW will either fish or cut bait as we're getting tired of the run-around.
2008 was a success, both personally and financially. We didn't make a lot of money - but we didn't lose any either and we bought some new terrain etc. All in all, a solid year. We should have some neat new stuff for you next year!
Xian and I are also planning a meeting at his place later this month to discuss the 'v5ing' of Astro. We've invited a bunch of alumni to attend, both old players and new. Winners and those who have never won. We're trying to get a solid perspective on how to approach 2009 and the new edition.
We'll let you know more about that later this month or in early December but, yes, we're still breathing and doing stuff. Just been a bit busy with the real world of late. _________________ Mike Major

Best of luck with that - I'm hoping it happens. However, I get the impression that GW are not good at "decision making"!
After reading the Lone Wolf (AB)/GW discussion on licensing in the "GW files" for AB, and how that was messed around with for ~4 years until Lone Wolf walked away I'm not convinced they have teh time for such matters. _________________ Jason "Doc" Dyer

You let real world stuff get in the way of gaming? Horrors!
Seroiusly though, congrats again on the wedding. Let us know if there's anything we can do to help!

Congrats on the wedding! I had mine not long after Astro Van, and I think I'm still recovering.
I just started my all-new, all-singing, all-dancing army for '09 and I'm already starting to panic about time. Heh heh. |

Congrats on the wedding Mike.
I hope that Nottingham happens but with the economy being so up and down I am not holding my breath. I am however holding my breath regarding Astro TOs date so I can start planning. I also just purchased a 2002 F-150 supercab with a 6 ft box. Means I can bring some surfaces, along with the boys.
But I am thinking that it will be a May date again with a January reveal date again.

We've got Toronto tentatively planned for April 18th and 19th.
Still working out the details of the event with GW, but we've agreed on a date, so that's a good start for this week. I'm confident that everything will be in place hopefully by the end of this week.
So, start your planning! _________________ Christian Augst

Congratulations Mike.
Looks like a wonderful wedding!!
Dan Winters has spread the word to our group about the early June Vancouver dates and the possibility of an Edmonton event. Very excited about Vancouver. Let us know if there is anything our group can do to help.
Since a number of us have broken off from the 40k Fight Club to form our own group, once we get our logo, website and background firmed up, we will keep everyone updated as we progress.
Thanks,
Gregg Speers and everyone else from the Fighting Havenican's!! |
