There have been some people interested in working to bring Astronomi-con to Edmonton.
I know for a fact that GW had been planning on holding their next Alberta Conflict event in Edmonton, so, there appeared to be some very strong support in that city.
Please feel free to add your thoughts about having a future event in Alberta. _________________ Christian Augst

Things are shaping up on this front as far as the terrain side is concerned.
I'm still waiting on our members on the scene to provide me with more details regarding a date and venue. _________________ Christian Augst

Things are now in motion for an upcoming Edmonton event later in the year.
A possible date we are looking at is October 4th and 5th.
However, some already scheduled GW 40k events that month may force us to find an alternate date.
Suffice it to say that we are working on it. _________________ Christian Augst

Well WCM is Oct 18th and 19th and I know Edmonton Onslaught is October 11th as we have people coming out to help with WCM after Onslaught so October 4th and 5th might work for those in Edmonton, but I'm sure 3 in a row for those from BC that would want to go to these events might hurt. _________________ Death Korps of Krieg

And then you could come back to Vancouver and help out at WCM... Astro-Vancouver TWO!
Yeah, I like Astronomi-Con... _________________ Jason "Doc" Dyer

Haha, well I'm betting Nick Daniels and Thor would have something to say about that.
By all accounts they put on a good show at WCM. _________________ Christian Augst

I'm not sure if Nick has found anyone yet (or at least confirmed) who is running the Tournament... _________________ Jason "Doc" Dyer

Well there will be an announcement for that soon. I'm sure you'll find out tomorrow though.
Christian and I already discussed the option of Astron @ WCM, but we both agreed that Vancouver needs more than one premiere event a year and by combining the two, we lose one. _________________ Death Korps of Krieg

Well due to unforseen circumstances Edmonton just couldn't happen in 2008. But the good news is that 2009 holds a lot of promise for pushing the Astronomi-con into the Great White North.
If we can find a venue (the easy part), terrain (this is almost all taken care of already), and enough players to make a go of it (the harder part), we're going to make it happen this year! _________________ Christian Augst
