Astronomi-con Vancouver continued to grow this year, not only in numbers, but in the strength of the community.

Thanks and Congratulations to all of our attendees for a very fun weekend, rich with the best our hobby has to offer.

Special thanks go out to all of our sponsors, people that loaned out terrain, and those that helped us take care of all of the important things that go on behind the scenes to bring everything together.

Congratulations to all of our award winners. Each category was very close and a die roll here, a vote cast there, made all the difference.

BEST OVERALL - Bob Kelley - Chaos Space Marines
BEST SPORTSMAN - Daniel Winters - Tyranids
BEST ARMY - Marshall Reeves - Imperial Guard
BEST APPEARANCE - Jeremy Bergem - Space Marines
BEST GENERAL - Michael Knudsen - Dark Eldar
BEST TERRAIN - Dean Gilbert - Egyptian Temples
BEST SINGLE MINIATURE - Magnus Wood - Space Wolves
BEST ARMY LIST - Gregg Speers - Chaos Daemons

Comprehensive results will be online today.

Ah, but I won the non-official award for patheticness by losing a battle 13-0. No one else got 0 battle points all tournament long. Laughing

Any nominations for the Murphy's Luck award? I can't say that I had anything memorable luck-wise, nor did my opponents.

I tried to revive the old GT Canada Murphy's luck award which was a piece of terrain you could bring back in future years, but to no avail...

I of course had some bad luck. Sneaking two melta guns up behind the Baneblade only to role double ones to hit sucked... But didn't cost me the came, the cowardly Grey Knights running away from my Deamons and Chaos Space Marines to hide inside the Landraiders lost me the game. That and a rhino being worth an entire Killpoint.

Other bad luck was against James Chen and his damn terminators. I was a bit lucky to kill the landraider but I did target three lascannons at it... But his TH/SS termies just wouldn't fail a save. I had better luck killing Mega Nobz.

Also badluck my first four games my Demon Lord with Demonic Weapon roled at least one 1, including in the crucial round of H2H where he was then beaten down... If I do a deamon weapon again it will either be a terminator dude or on a guy with his own DIY retinue. I miss the lieutenant and the rentinues from previous codices.

Bob the Necessary Evil was luckier surviving 7 extra armor saves after the Grey Knights and their Nemisis force weapons piled in to his squad. It took two "I'll be back" saves but he lay on the ground long enough for the lesser demons to arrive. I'll probably bring a squad of lesser demons for variety, probably 8 bloodletters as they seem luckier than the plaguebearers...

I'm also bringing back the sacred numbers as much as I can. It just seems to work mathematically and karmatically better. 8 Lesser Demons, 7 Plaguemarines, 6 Noisemarines it just seems right.

Cowardly Grey Knights? I prefer to call it a tactical redeployment from your hovercrafting Chaos lord with his 24" 'peek-a-boo, I slay you' Daemonweapon. Oh, and the rumors of my knights screaming, "open the @#*$# door!" as they made their way to the Land Raider has proven to be totally false and unsubstantiated.

Another great Astro guys, thanks for putting it on! I had a great time and my slaanesh faired a lot better than i thought they would. I need to remember to bring a display base, actually make a themed army list and to get the finishing touches on my army.

Also, I made it home safely (barely) at 4am monday morning. Yes, i worked at 7am! Of course I got stopped at the border to be searched, and of course i got pulled over goin 75 in a 70 and got a ticket, but it was worth it. lookin forward to next year!

Holy cow Andy, that is dedication! Then again, Astro makes these marathon hobby quests worth it.
Thanks again for that great game Andy, one of the most fun I had on the weekend. I was actually able to shed those lead boots you slipped onto my figs by my next game!
Very Happy
