When we first meet Mickey the Idiot, he's scared of his own shadows, and now no doubt, of wheelie bins that burp.
The journey Mickey undertakes is far different from that of Rose Tyler, in which he finds himself having to cope with everyday life without Rose. He swaps adventure for boredom, and doesnt seem to want to 'see what's out there'
Until of course he discovers that being the tin dog, isn't all it's cut out to be.

The best heriocs I've seen, is when he turns the tables on Rose. And beats her at her own game. She left him to see the universe, always knowing he'd be waiting when she got home. Now he's doing the same to her - and she finds it much more difficult to handle.

I think my favourite episode has to be Age of Steel. Not because he got to save the day, but because he found where he belonged - something you don't quite get when you first meet the character.

yeah I found that. It was like Mickey had never quite belonged in his own universe but now that Jake and the preachers don't have a rickey it's like he's found his proper home.
