I thought a few of you adventurous typesmight be interested in some of these events New Coastal Trail Quest Series. There are quite a few different options. Dave W might remember the 'Glory Days' of winning the 'old persons category' at the Pembrokshire coastal half marathon.
Anyhow this is what they say "Some of the new events in the Endurance life programme will take place the day after (Sundays) after Coastal Trail Running Series. They are an ideal opportunity for anyone with a mountain or cyclo-cross bike to get involved in the exciting sport of bike orienteering.
Each one day event will be based from atmospheric venues and will include a short score (3 hour) and medium score (5 hour) race. Participants will be provided with an event map and must endeavour to visit as many checkpoints as possible within the given area and time period. It is great fun, and a brilliant way to explore some of the most spectacular coastline in the world.
Each CTQ event is designed to be fun and accessible to all yet challenging enough to test riders' route making skills, bike handling skills and endurance over a variety of terrain. Newcomers to the sport are welcomed and experienced Trail-Questers will undoubtedly find themselves tested over new ground."
They aren't neccessarily the cheapest events about, but my experience of the one that we did do was theat it was very well presented / organised, T - Shirt etc ....... anyhow have a peak at the site - note that there are a number of different options variations etc from the home page _________________ The biggest supplier of kit to UK entrants in the MdS and other extreme ultra's. Matt,
You can forget Dave W for this series, I saw him in Waitrose car park on Wednesday. He was sitting in his van eating pies, he's put a load of weight on and looked as though he would be out of breath walking across the car park.
Shame really he is a nice guy, but I guess that's what happens when you watch loads of telly!!

Hmm, Coastal trailquest series looks good. Following the success for me and Alan at the Cannock Questar, it'd be good ride against some other pairings from the club if anyone is interested?

Yep, me and Alan will be there in the Duo category again.
Don't know whether we can manage a repeat of Cannock, but we'll try |
