First Anniversary of the Enclave

One year ago, tonight -- was the reason this place was made.

I still remember monitoring all the places I'd hang that night -- I had a real forboding feeling... I must've checked Google News with his name.. 50 times that night.

Just as I was shutting it down for the night, I can't remember now, I saw some mention of it -- maybe on his official site -- certainly it wasn't posted there by the person who runs it -- it was posted by a visitor... I think it was FMJD... and I nearly lost my breath.

Then I googled News again... and there it was... I remember just saying all this time: No No No No Noo NOO!! And then ran in to ESPN where it was announced.

And went to bed crying, trying not to make any noise... and then being depressed for a long time after that. What a fucktacular Christmas that was. Not.

Today, right now it is 8 am... we are .. only like 507 posts away from 75,000.

We are amazing - even our *ahem dear Johnny could be impressed if he had any clue. Neutral

Not sure why I got that off my chest right now but... it's a year now. It's been ... almost a year, its' just hours now. And I never thought we'd still be here, but.. we are. Very Happy

Thank you guys so much for making it more bearable for me -- every single one of you that has stuck with it and peek in whenever you can - I suppose in some ways it has made my affections linger, having someone to commiserate with daily over every little thing - statement, picture, interview etc... but.. I've really enjoyed it. Not sure how I would've been without this place and you guys.. my blog would probably be 5 times the size it is. LOL

Yes! Happy Anniversary Enclave!!! thumping heart

This place and people have been a savior for me......no one understands how I feel like fellow Enclavians!!

We are a special group.....from all walks of life.....generations...sexes....COUNTRIES!! Even tho some have lost their feelings for Johnny.....feelings for fellow Enclavians remain strong!

I can honestly say you guys know me better than ANYONE in my life right now. I don't know how long my Johnnylove will last.....sometimes I suspect it will always be there.....just at a more "manageable" potency....but I'm damn positive my love for this place and the people here will remain steadfast and rock solid.

I feel closer to the members of the Enclave than anyone else.

WOW! It's been a year. I want to thank you JTT for making this place and for E for finding me over on the green board and telling me to come on over to here. Wink

Y'all have been my rock this past year. My JD love has faded, but y'all have been here for me while the dh has been off doing his thing. I miss talking to y'all when I'm not here! Laughing

I come home from work, get my Lola kisses and check in. We are like a family and I love that we have cared enough to actually meet. Not everyone understands our friendship and I think that's part of what makes it so special. Wink

I look forward to what this year has to bring for us. We are all such smart women (and man!) and I am so proud of all of you!

Happy Anniverary to The Enclave! Long may we chat!

oh my god ... I started crying ! what a loser I am ... you all wrote so many beautiful things about us, our home here at the Enclave, our friendships ...

I mean seriously ... the big doofus is what brought us together .. and I will forever be grateful to the big lug for doing that ... our passion for the Red Sox and Johnny was the first thing in common we all shared ... and the past year and a half (i'll include the green site) we bonded ... we share so many more things than just him and the red sox.

We have similar political views .. we have love of animals .. we have passion for alcohol (LOL) .. we talk about our kids and our husbands or boyfriends or stalkers ... (again, LOL) ...

Somedays I wouldn't make it without you all to keep me sane ... I cherish each and everyone of you !

Now this thread should be about talking about the Enclave, and how great it is, and stuff that's happend in our first year of existance......not *certain others who shall remain nameless here* pissed

Anyway.....I remember this day last year.....after the news came out.....I got the PM from JTT on the O board......viewed the Enclave for the first time.....she said this was just going to be a temorary place to "lick out wounds" for a while, from the Skankme fan raid on the O board....but I knew it would last.......and look at us now, a year later, and still together....we'll get nothing but stronger....I appreciate all of you SO much....you guys would read my rants all day Laughing

One year ago:

I had fallen asleep watching NECN. I woke up just before midnight and the sportscaster was saying the unthinkable -- Johhny had signed with the pinstriped devils.

I had bonded with him for all sorts of reasons--he had made me happy, I guess that's the most simple explanation--for what he had done for the Sox and just him being him. I loved looking at him. And I wasn't alone.

My dh had already bought me dumbass Johnny crap as Christmas stocking stuffers--ornament, other stuff and a framed photo of his WS home run which just made me cry when I opened it, how ridiculous in retrospect -- it was all such a waste, made no sense, was all so depressing, I felt dazed watching it unfold, seeing him shorn, knowing I'd now be able to watch him on YES, but what was the point, he was no longer the icon, the hero.

But, again, thanks for making this mess so much more bearable, all the incredibly funny things and photos you've all posted, the wit and wisdom. It is comforting that there exist people out there with the same thoughts and feelings, and you can find them, and he was responsible for that.

I read it happened to lots of people last year....even somebody's 80+ year old gramma...I saw them on the news....they didn't know what to do with the JD Sox shirt they had wrapped and ready for her Crying or Very sad
