There is a certain amount going on, but it is ad hoc. I have a small but very select group of HFT Trainees on Saturday and last Saturday I gave 5 lads a quick introductory session in conjunction with some Shot Gunning Activity.
I do think that with UKAHFT Round 1 and the Springer comp next week end club resources are a bit stretched at the moment.
Still, you are right to ask the question Vic. My view is that we could probably do more for occasional visitors to the club throughout the summer on a little and often basis.
It would be great to have a number of volunteers who would run regular 'Try it sessions'. A 1 hour session might include the following:
A set introductory script, basic safety and gun fit; hit a few large plinking targets, ten shots at a bulls eye to create a group, knockover a field target or two. Handout to go away with detailing club calendar for the next three months....
I guess that with a team of at least 8 people working on a rotation we could cover most Saturdays....
Is anyone interested in helping to do this and shaping the way it works in practice? Please let me know.
Cheers,
John |

Hi, I'd certainly be interested in helping out with this, would need to be planned i.e. either book me in advance or catch me on the day (Sat) when I'm not shooting a comp as other commitments mean that I'm not there every Saturday at the moment. Can't say I know all the technical jargon but I know safety and how to shoot so it's a start!

This is a good start thak you. Vic and Lorraine, please feel free to recruit more volunteers.
It will be worth looking at who is up regularly at the week-end because not everyone reads these posts.
Thank you,
John |
