My Video Problems

I am trying to publish a Movie Maker 6 file of about 7 minutes length that contains over 100 slides and a couple of short Quicktime movie clips. I am running this on an HP Quadcore computer with lots of disk space and Vista.
Two weeks ago I clicked the Publish Movie button and the Estimating time remaining bar appeared. I've since used the Task Manager to watch the MOVIEMK.exe progress as it has slowly reduced the Memory from 1.6Gb to around 290Mb + or - as time went by. I thought I would check for any ideas before killing the process.

MM does not work at all well with quicktime clips, you need to convert these to wmv, some apps here

Thanks so much for the tips. I killed the 2-week process and converted the two MOV clips to AVI with one of your recommended software tools. The movie then published in just a few minutes at 81Mb. The result came out great.
