Ok, I'll try to keep this brief...

I've been working on a montage and I have movie clips that I've cut and I've added music and some titles. It was playing perfectly fine for me a few days ago and now all of a sudden I can't choose where I want to start in the montage even after I've published it. If I add a brand new clip thats 3 mins long with no added titles or music, it wont allow me to skip through it.

This is very frustrating. I read from a diff site that I should clear up some memory and believe me, I've cleared up A LOT and its still freezing. What can I do?

Which version of windows do you have?
Which version of movie maker?
What are all your project files, so are you using mp3 music, jpeg pictures etc?

This may help

I have Move Maker 6 for Vista and Windows 95

I'm creating a movie montage for a class I have. I ripped the movies (DVDs) to my computer in WMV format using Wondershare. They play perfect in Movie Maker and always have until now. If I cut a clip in half and try to play it where I want it to start, it won't. If I put a brand new movie in movie maker without cuts, it will cooperate.

I've created this 8 min montage that is almost complete but I need to work on it some more and all of a suddent I can't start it where I want to when a few days ago, I was doing just that. It does it even with a 2 min clip that has no titles or anything.

It opened for me this morning but won't play trough all the way. It will stall at a cetain point and then I have to close it, reopen it and can start it at an endpoint or the beginning and that's all. I can't see if my work is coinciding with the music I put.

One more thing:

The previous montages that I've created and published, brought to class and shared, won't even cooperate now. And they are only 2 mins long. There are two of them. The only things I have saved in Movie Maker are three montages including the 8 min one. I barely use it so I don't understand what the issue is.

And I've made sure to rip everything in WMV bc I know Movie Maker won't take some files. VOB of FLV for instance.

It could be that a change to the pc has made it not work. Often programmes that add codecs, or do things like write dvds can make changes that upset movie maker.
Have you made any changes since it last worked?
Like adding any programmes, deleteing any? etc?

You could try ripping the dvd with another programme and see if the wmv that it produces works for you.
