Well Bill,
David Jason was no stranger to Arthur's shop as he used to spend a lot of time in Taffs Well with his late partner, Myfanwy Talog.
No doubt he bought it to Ronnie Barker's attention for use in "Open All Hours".

I've read that Ronnie Barker wrote many scripts for his various series, but always under a pseudonym because he never had the confidence to use his own name. Can't remember the pseudonym now though. _________________ A SimplyDV refugee - no longer wandering aimlessly through cyberspace |

... oops, didn't mean to bring Dickins into this . Anyway, they'll all be thrilled. Did Arthur have any family?

I've started doing some research into Harvey Williams. There's not a lot to Google but I did find this Have see if he remembers the occasion.
I've just been down to the Sailing Club to speak to him and he was just going out to race in his single-handed dinghy (at 75) Kicking myself for not taking my camera because it's a lovely evening. _________________ A side effect of everyone carrying mobile phones with cameras is that nobody ever claims to see UFOs any more. |
