Literally just got off the phone from one of the hoteliers on the Island. It seems a major studio is shooting a film called 'Mama Mia' on Skiathos and Skopelos, starring Meryl Streep and a number of other famous actors. Filming starts on the 22nd and goes on till 7th September.
The cast also includes Pierce Brosnan, Bill Nighy, Julie Walters, Tom Hanks is one of the Producers. Apparently the film is something to do with ABBA. |

"Apparently the film is something to do with ABBA."
Mamma Mia is a musical playing in the West End and all the songs are Abba tracks. It's set on a Greek island and it's all about a young bride-to-be finding out who (of 3 men) her real father is. I saw it a few years ago, it's very cheesy
Wonder if the film crew will be invading Little Banana?
No, maybe not........... |

Well lets just hope that the film is a donkey , because if it is a hit and they make Skiathos look as good as we all know it is there will be a LOT MORE visitors and it could be ruined if its not controlled well.
It should be fun trying to spot the cellebs if they ever leave their hotels apart from filming. And you never know if they might need some extras.
Dont forget your tank tops & flairs. |

| Martin from the Jailhouse told us the filming was going to take place on the old harbour for approx 3 days and all the tavernas would have to remove any modern furnishings as they wanted only the old traditional stuff. |

Hi All
Just got back yesterday (will post a full report later) but there are advertisements for extras for this film all over the harbour, they are needed from 29th August for a couple of days if I remember rightly, I remember this date cos its my daughter's birthday. There is a number for anyone who is interested in becomming an extra - but sorry folks, never thought to write it down. |

<Makes not to pop in charity shops to find 70s gear>
Thats one way to make your spends go further . How much are they paying if anything at all. Maybe you just get a free lunch.
I heard on radio 2 yesterday that they are filming at Pinewood at the moment. |

Could anyone PLEASE find the number for being an extra from the posters in the old town
I am visiting Skiathos between 24/8/07 - 7/9/07 for the 3rd time and would love to try to get a small part!
Have seen the musical , set in the present day about a daughter trying to find out who her father is, her mother runs a small taverna on a Greek island.
Just so happens the film is being made by film company owned by Tom Hanks who has a place on Skiathos.
People in the film version include Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Julie Waters and Colin Firth!
TELEPHONE NUMBER would be really appreciated.
Thanks in anticipation. Jon |

| For three days last week ppl interested in working as extras in the movie had the opportunity to put their names down & have photos taken, as far as I know it is now too late i'm afraid! Those who went along last week are now waiting to hear if they are needed. |
