My researching for next years holiday on Skopelos has seen me collating photographs of the beaches around the entire coastline which contribute to my decision on which area to hire a boat from etc.
I've done very well but I'm missing 8 beaches. If anyone has photos from their holidays for the following beaches could they please email or pm me so I can add them to my collection. I've stated in which area of the Island they are in aswell as the ability to reach them by car / path or if only accessible by boat taking info from internet and map.
MAVRAKI.........NE.........BOAT
KOUTRIA.........NW........BOAT
DAFNI.............W..........BOAT
KALYVES.........W..........ROAD
FTELIA............W..........BOAT
NERAKI...........W..........BOAT
AMOUDITSA....SW........PATH
GLYFADA.........S...........BOAT
Thankyou.

Jerry, I don't have any knowledge of the Skopelos beaches but there is a lady called Litsa who posts on Tripadvisor and she is a frequent visitor there I'm sure she would have loads of info. Hope this helps.

Jerry have you tried www.skopelosweb.gr lots of info on there. We visited Skopelos a few years ago after being on day trips twice from Skiathos. Where are you staying, we stayed 10 minutes walk out of town.

Thanks Mrs Whicker. Yep I've started conversing with Litsa on Trip advisor...well my friend has on my behalf anyway . She loves Skopelos and It's making me really look forward and kicked off my researching. I love to dig out facts and points of interest before I go somewhere to give me that bit of a start as to where to visit......gets me through the winter anyway...lol
Hello Bejay...long time no speak....how are you?...Good I hope. We are staying at the Delsol around the bay from the harbour ( 10-15 mins stroll to centre of town along the beach road ). Spoken to the owner Sophie on the phone and she seems lovely. We have to telephone her from the dolphin and she's meeting us at the port when we arrive. We are going with Jan & Roger again next year but minus the offspring as they are taking their first holiday with their friends in Lefkada mixed emotions on that one. I'll miss them in the pool but sort of nice it just being the adults also.
Sophie gave us a discount for booking 2 rooms early and we were lucky enough to get our flights with Travel Republic before an increase of £80 per person was added phew.
Here's the links to where we are staying....we have 2 sea view / aircon studios with free Internet access within the rooms ( handy for the kids to keep us informed that they are ok ).

We'll be hiring a Jeep to reach those isolated rocky coves, a boat for the ones inaccessable by road, a boat trip to the marine park and a day, possibly 2 on Alonissos to explore there also. Any ideas as to the best trips? especially the ones that do around island boat trips to see the caves which would narrow down the area we need to cover with our own boat.
Photos I have so far show the Island to be stunning. I'm particularly looking forward to visiting Agh Ioannis on the North Eastern coast. It looks gorgeous.
Speak soon.

I know where they are we walked up to them, We stayed at Evlalia, further round and up the bank. We didn't do much when we were there, there was a lovely pool and we only went to two beaches, Panoramos and stafilos, think thats what there were called. This year we went to Corfu, San Stefanos and later to Crete Koutouloufari, that was lovely.Skopelos is lovely on an evening round the harbour, really enjoyed it, lots of locals about, all the family.Like the bar up by the church at the harbour. nice views on an evening

Ahhhh Bejay...we were looking at Evlalia but getting hold of them was almost impossible. We gave up, booked here and guess what.....yep Evlalia then responded but fortunately they were a lot more expensive anyway so we didn't feel too bad after that...lol. In front of the Evlalia and Delsol I'm picking up different reports on the quality of swimming from the beach. Some say its fine, some say driftwood gets washed up from the northerly winds.....what would your take on it be would you say?
Yep those are the beaches....Velanio over the rocks from Stafilos looks quieter and Panormos looks nice but its those smaller rocky inlets for quiet snorkelling that we enjoy and I'm really looking forward to spending the day in the North East on these. Agh Ioannis looks beautiful and Perivoli with the coves in between will all feel Jerry's feet on them.... .
That bar sounds perfect Bejay....can you remember the name please? Also, any other tavernas / bars you preferred would be greatly appreciated. Once Skopelos is sorted I then move on to the same research with Alonissos...lol.
Thanks for your help Bejay.

I would not like to swim, or sit on the town beach, its not very attractive, better to go to other beaches. Don't think we had a bad meal anywhere, we collect restaurant and taverna cards, just been throught them and not one for Skopelos tavernas mustn't do them there .Sorry don't know name of the bar also but there are a few up of the harbour, sure you will find them.Just wander through the small back alleys.Think Skopelos has lots more atmosphere on an evening round the harbour. Lovely sitting watching the ferry.

Look out for a restaurant called the "Plateneous" its in the little square in Skopolos town just back from the waterfront. More or less opposite where the flying cat docks.
Does a great traditional meze served on wooden boards, its very good value ! You sit outside under a very large tree where two or three tavernas share the square.
Take the bus from town over to Agondas and there is Taverna Kopalli where you can sit by the water overlooking the natural harbour. _________________

Thanks Bejay.....I may wander over the headland to Sares then. All good exploration anyway. Can't wait to have drinks with a view
Thanks Ian....Those tavernas on the list. We'll be picnicing at Amarandos on the 1st day of our Jeep tour so I'll check out Agnondas on the way through for a meal on a night.
Amarandos........is this famous spot ( will be soon anyway )accessible by car or is it a path from the forest road? I'm assuming its on the cape and reached from the 1st hairpin bend if coming from Agnondas. Is this correct?
Thanks again.

Going to skopelos thias year for the first time and staying at the Evalia, hoping that they are ok. I am worried that the beaches will be dissapointing after skiathos, but can cope with shingle if there is no sand. Would appreciate any advice on good not too busy beaches, my favourites on skiathos are Abelika and Mandraki.

Lisa we stayed at Evlalia, they were clean and basic, had a nice small pool which we used. The town beach I would not use, not very nice, visited a few beaches but not sandy like Skiathos, Skopelos was lovely on an evening round the harbour. Nice tavernas and bars. Sure you will enjoy

Hi Lisa and Bejay, I haven't been to Skopelos for a good few years now but my favourite (and sandy) beach was Limnonari, just around the bay from Agnondas. We used to get the bus to Agnondas and then walk around the coast road (if you have a car/jeep you could drive of course) - a gentle 15 minute stroll, as I recall. In high season there would also be a small boat ferrying people from Agnondas. The latter beach is all shingle, but Limnonari is mainly sand. Both are small and had one good taverna each. Of others mentioned in this topic Velanio was always nudist and catering was either limited or non-existent, but there was a taverna on Stafilos next door, and wasps could be a problem on both at times. Of course it could all have changed in the last 10 years! Have fun finding out!

Lisa.....I've done hours of researching Skopelos in preparation for July and as Christine already mentioned Limnonari always crops up on messageboards as being a beautiful beach with crystal clear waters. The photos suggest it will compare very favourably with your choice on Skiathos of Mandraki. The taverna on the waters edge in neighbouring Agnondas receives excellent reviews aswell and will be a must for us on one of our jeep days out.
In Skiathos I liked the pebbly inlets of the north....Nikotsara to mention one and so I'm looking to search out those on Skopelos. One which I'm really excited about visiting is Agh Ioannis on the north east coast and higher to Pethamenis and Perivoli......they look simply stunning.
Enjoy....we are really getting excited about Skopelos now. Looking forward to hiring a small boat to find isolated beaches aswell...fantastic.

thanks for the info, we are going for two weeks from 31 May, and will probably hire a small car. Never tried a boat before as not sure how easy they are to manage, but we do intend to see as much of Skopelos as possible, and am also printing out info and reminders of what to see when we arrive.
