I am going to skiathos in September (Trulous) and wondered what the facilities are like for changing traveller's cheques? Or should we just take Euros?
Thanks, Stacey x _________________ Looking forward to our first trip to Skiathos in Sept 2008 |

| There's plenty of places that will change them in town. You're pretty safe to take Euros as well though. Skiathos is virtually crime free (although I did hear that someone rode the length of the island without a crash helmet one day). |

| We just take euros. We pay for the car hire by Visa/debit. We have had no trouble over the years and it's better than having to change travellers cheques and pay commission. |

We have always taken Euros and some English, it works for us.
Any meals you may have in town just tell the waiters to bill Foxy, that also works, especially in Alexandros |

Yes - and I reply. I realise that technology mightn't have reached Deepest Lancashire though.
You pass my office if you're going to West Kirby, so next time you're passing.................PASS! |

Not before peering through the window though, couldn't see anyone resembling an Orang Utan so we left

Would still be sensible to take travellers cheques rather than cash. There may little crime but you can still lose cash - with cheques you can get the money back.
One tip - we've always used Alpha bank in Greece as they dont charge commission (or its really low i forget which). Hotels and small kiosks can sting you with charges.
In Skiathos Alpha is opposite where the Ferries dock (I was going to say Ferry terminal but that sounds too grand)
MIssing Skiathos like mad now - a rainy August in England does not compare |

Taking Euros should be OK.
It's tempting fate, I know, but I've taken just Euros for years to Troulos and never had a problem.
There is a money change place in Troulos, opposite the garage. Never used it, but I assume it still works as a bureau de change.
Mind you, I think they are a bit casual about money changing in Troulos. One of the supermarkets offered me the facility earlier this year!
Where are you staying in Troulos, and when are you going?
