abramovits bought the 730 odd strema(1 strema= 1000meters) at banana beach.
lawyers arrived 2 days before the sale and the big boy had to cancel his trip 3 times much to the disgust of the air controller at skiathos airport ( every time had to make sure all were perfect and unnecessary security etch)
but finally made it and signed the sale papers.
the ex owners gulandris family (ship owners) made sure the final sum remains a secret.

im back.. ok lets get this info right.. 1 .. abrom is buying the end of the island that includes agia eleni, little banana, and big banana, he could if he wished close of the road but would have to allow a walkway to the beaches as they cannot be bought.. he came first for just one day and there were a total of 7 yachts of asselinos beach, it was a thursday about 3 weeks ago. he left early on the friday morn. after a few days he came back with just 5 yachts of tsougria and was at castani beach the one on scop where they filmed the mama mia.. 2.. the boat of the harbour was not some boat for hire for 300,000 a day... what a load of rubbish that is... it was actually called virginia, not virginian.. i was next to it, on the sat the royal party were on the end of tsougria beach there was a security guy there on the beach with the parasols and sunloungers covered in white towels. on bored was sofie edwards wife and also elton johns husband.. i saw sofie but no william, not sure if he was onboard or not.. then on the weds they were on tofecoverga however you spell it its the one on the very end of island after kouk... but it was the royal yacht 100 % it even had the royal crest on the flag at the top.. now no more nonsense on here please...

oh also there is hardly any change to asselinos.. there are not buildings going up everywhere, still looks same as last year so no need to stay away.. have fun and enjoy the waves there.. Smile

there is indeed building going on around Asselinos - we were there in May-June and have pictures... it's not affecting the beach, but there is some sort of a small resort or community being built in the area, from the looks of the building that is happening and there are several new and unfinished villas in the vicinity - new in '08, not '07. Sorry Tezza. It's all easy to see from the hill above Asselinos (Megalo).

yes elle there is a small, no a very small amount of building going on but it still looks pretty much the same as last year, so people dont need to avoid the area. a few villas still not finised. and yes i live here all year and you can look from above or the sea, but it is still a great beach in sept after the greek holidays have finished.and hopefully abrom will buy the part of island at the end as the owner now has plan perm for hundred apartments and brom wants to build one big one...so to all show me a photo how much asselinos has changed in 3 years if you can..

I know nothing about anything which is sometimes the best way to be but I have been to several places where the beach is private and in some cases are fenced off.Not in Skiathos but I expect there are places somewhere on the island.

Roman O- money- rich may not be able to buy a beach but he may be able to make it private.There must someone out there who knows the answer.If you can buy a beach then we should buy one and have it as a private Boomerang Club beach.

In the end money talks especially millions of euros so we will have to wait & see.Maybe he fancies a bit of small banana!!!!!!!!

by Greek law none can own a beach anywhere.
they are all public , and all European citizens have the same rights to them.
nobody can erect any sort of building less than 50 meters from the beach.
fences are allowed, but the owner must leave a road of at least 2.5 meters so all can have access.
the owner of the lands has the rights to use the beach as he wishes, so he could put away all other umbrellas and deck chairs,bars and cantinas, but his own.
he don't have to pay rent to town council but he cannot legally rent the above chairs , only to have them used by his guests for free.
i don't know if abramovitch plans to built many bungalows and have something like a club med or if he just wants a large private villa, but i am afraid like many other things in greece he could find ways of making sure none visits his beach.
my friend made jokes about crocodile pits, doberman dogs and guards with uzis.
perhaps not far from reality?..................................

sorry hayley but you have the wrong ship so yes you have a photo but it is the wrong one the royal yacht wasd the virginia not the virginian and was dif shape , i was next to it and also spoke to security guard on beach if you do not believe check with the captain from the kalypso.. the royal yacht had the royal flag ontop..
