| I'm off to Skiathos on Friday 26th Sept, staying at Atrium Hotel, for a week. I've been to other Greek islands, but it's my first time to Skiathos. I haven't been abroad for 4 and half years, hence I'm excited - however going on my own (which never done before) so bit nervous! Came across this board from other websites, and just wanted to pick peoples' brains as to where to go/eat/nightlife etc, as I gather things may quieten down when I'm there. Also, I'm sure I'll be fine alone, but just after reassurance! |

Hi Karen
Everyones friendly so no worries & you won't be on your own because everyone talks to you as well. We're staying in town from the 19th for 2 weeks so you might end up talking to us one night (or vice versa). Lots of places still open so there's plenty of places to go to.
Have a great time as i'm sure you will
Cheers

Hi both and thanks for your replies.
I'm travelling from Gatwick, with Olympic Holidays, Darrell, and should arrive about 6 p.m.
Yes Bob, if it's the same as when I've gone abroad before, everyone'll be really nice, and I know what you mean about getting talking to other folk. I know I'll wish I'd gone for a fortnight, but thought as I'm going alone for the first time, I'd see how I get on with just a week. I've got a few butterflies at the moment, but sure I'll be fine when I'm there. You're right, I may well come across you while out there.
Also as I said, if anyone's got tips for places to eat/go etc, I'd be very grateful.
Thanks again. Karen |

hi karen.
atrium hotel is very good.
also agia paraskevi beach has top quality sands.
only story is you will arrive at the seasons last week of operations as most travel cos have their last planes out on the 3d of October.
this means many places will be closed or in the process.
but at the time you can get great discounts on car or bike hires, and the bus will be coming to town almost empty.
skiathos is a very safe place so you don't have much to fear from ,other than a whistle from a passer by.
most nice places in town will be open and some boat trips will be available.
another good luck for you is that darrel will be your rep and he is a fine person so you can ask him all the info.
he lives here so you can rely on his recommendations.
just make sure that your tour co don't go bust _________________ snow is like love:

Thank you for that. It does sound and look lovely, from what I've seen so far.
I think things may be even quieter given the events of the past couple of days, but hopefully I'll be able to find places to go.
I'm sure I can cope with a whistle (may also do my ego good!!!).
From what I gather it's not far to get into the town itself? What boat trips are likely to be running?
Yes it also seems like I'm lucky with regard to Darrell - seen his name and postings on here, so should be useful to be able to get advice from him.
Please don't tempt fate about your last comment! I don't think I could cope with the trauma and upset that an awful lot of people have had to deal with!

Karen,
You must visit Taverna MOURIA in Skiathos Town, absolutely one of the best in town, great greek traditional home cooked food hosted by the ever smiling Panni and his staff.
Also you are very fortunate that the same time you are visiting the island it is also the same week that the Bulletin Boards very own infamous "Kriandos" will be gigging at the aforementioned Taverna.
I promise you his performance should not be missed...... _________________ http://www.pro-tecmotorsport.com |

That sounds like something I may need to check out???!!! What night/s?!
Is the place easy to find? It sounds good, just from that description. Presumably I can get a bus from Ag Paraskevi & a taxi back? If so roughly how much will the latter cost? |
