Hi,
I am wanting to go to holiday next year in August for 2 weeks to Skiathos Town. That is the reason I have joined this site, to obtain help and advise from others who have been their before.
I am shocked at how many people seem to go back yer after year so am starting to realize what a wonderful place it must be. I went to Santorini this year and thought it was brilliant but unfortunately the flights have stopped from newcastle. Luckily you can still go to Skiathos so here I am on this site looking for help.
I cant decide weather to do a package or book myself. The only companies that go from Newcastle in a package are olympic, kosmar & libra. olympic seems to have the most choice but I am not sure where to stay.
I want to stay in a room in the town (upto max 5/10min walk into town) would like a pool, balcony, air conditioning & a nice clean room. Would also not like it to be too noisy where you have trouble sleeping. (not after much am i?) It would be really nice to if I could stay where there wer friendly owners too.
Can anyone help me. Max budget is 1200.00
Thanks. _________________ Michelle x |

sorry for 2 people. kosmar have really put their prices up this year. oasis is 1438 with them & in olympic can go to elsa, alkyon or thymis for 1030.
quite a difference !
will see what is is going independantly so you may still earn that beer! _________________ Michelle x |

Hi,
Can definitely recommend the Alkyon, we stayed for two weeks in sept this year. Clean rooms, nice balconies, nice pool, 5 mins to town. Its on the road to the club strip, so you get some traffic at night, but the windows are double glazed so you dont hear much. Nice breakfast, continental but also scrambled eggs and mini frankfurter sausages.
The staff are very friendly and helpful, especially Doris (desk boss) and Kiki on the desk. Anthony who does breakfast and carries your bags is very helpful. If you need any more info send us a ppm.

Try Sunset too, their prices are very good and if you book early they have some really good deals. Dont know what properties they have in the town as we always stay in Kouk. Its a beautiful island with beautiful people, you wont be disappointed. _________________ angela |

Hi Michelle
We are flying from Newcastle 20/6 with XL. Paid £502 for two. You can get a room with everything you want for about £600, that's what we did.
Can't you go in June ? Beaches won't be as busy either. _________________ Greece is the word ! |

hi disco pants,
thanks for that but we are sorted now. we got booked with olympic for £1200 for 2 in august for 2 weeks. I wanted to go in august as its our wedding anniversary & also my husbands birthday. I could of went in june but we normally have just a week away in june to wherever! (like my main 2 weeks hol in aug)and really fancied 2 weeks in skiathos even though doing it a bit different now.Believe it or not I like it when its busy.
we are staying in skopolos & skiathos (1 week each) so think we got a good deal.
thanks again _________________ Michelle x |

Sounds like you've got it sorted and at a good price, well done. I think that's really cheap for August, who are you flying with and from where ?
Have you visited Skopelos before ? and if so do you recommend a day trip as this is the first time me and she who must be obeyed have visited Skiathos. _________________ Greece is the word ! |

hi,
no not been to skiathos or skopelos before, was going to just go to skiathos (town) for two weeks but where we wanted to stay had gone so I then seen the idea of spending a week in both places & where we are staying in skopelos is really nice so thought why not. I think skopelos is more quieter but larger. As we are staying in the town of both I think we will be ok though. I am very excited though.
I am travelling from newcastle too & think it is excel who we are flying with. I booked direct with olympic too as i got quoted £1400 by travel agents. I found the internet with olympic the best (kosmar really expensive this year) Unfortunately I couldnt do the twin holiday on line but the girl I got through to give me a discount anyway. _________________ Michelle x |
