Hi All
Got back yesterday,after,2 weeks staying in Ag Paraskevi as most of you know it was in the 40's for most of this last week,we had lunch in Jimmys and the temp gauge was on 39.5. Anyway I'll try to give you a brief on my stay. Flight ( First Choice ) out was good and on time the first couple of days were near normal, in fact we had maybe half hour of rain, after this it started getting hotter each day and by the last day but one it was up to 45*,we were eating in town this night and even at 11.30 it was like a hot air fan blowing on you. then on the last 2 days there was a Fire on Volos,in the Forest somewhere, but as we came off the beach we saw this cloud in the background, then found out it was a fire, then the next night was worse with ash falling everywhere like flakes of snow, and a real problem for all the Tavernas and accomadation.but enough said about the heat,I didn't find it too bad ,as on the beach there was always a nice breeze + the water was the warmest I have ever felt at this time of year.
I have to say that, as I told Ian, My ambition after my recent problem was to walk the Kalamaki Peninsular,as always have, and this I did 5 times, walking early morning when it was so quiet + serene, on one of these mornings I was sitting on Eleni's seat, as I did for maybe 10-15 mins every day as its so beautiful + calm,Iwas looking out to sea and saw 5 or 6 Dolphins hoping in and out or the sea right beneath me, then almost as Quickly they were gone, one funny thing,on one walk I almost trod on this Snake, saw it at the last minute,as it slid away just got a pic of it,when later I was showing young Niko in Jimmys,he looked and said this was one of the most Poisenous Snakes in Greece!!!mind you the Ouzo was nice after they had picked me up off the floor.
Brief check on eating Places etc, Green Park, Jimmys and Avli were as good as always, had Beef chop at Green Park, this was more like a steak really enjoyed it, Must say was impressed with Plantanos, first visit there ,
In town have to say once again really enjoyed the PolyKratis,Lovely Spinach Pie + Lemon Pork, Also very good night as always at the Hellicon with the Live music ,and a lovely couple of songs from the owners Daughter who was only maybe 6 or 7 ,fantastic to sing in front of a full taverna,On a dissapppointing side I was not ,unlike Maureen, impressed this year with The Infinity Blue in Kolios, this is one I have always raved over in the past 5 yrs, but I'm afraid the meal was not as good as before, and the service was very rushed, maybe it was a new Chef, but I doubt I will be so keen next year
Well to sum up,we really enjoyed ourselves, although only lazing during the day and socializing at night, it went so Quickly, and my friends at Green Park + Jimmys were so kind + caring with me ,and advising me,
had a great Flight Home 30 mins early + no Re_fuel stop. now I have to tackle my grass which has grown about 9ins since I left. Lastly I hope Ian + all of you who are about to go soon, enjoy Beautiful Skiathos as much as we did. Yammas

Hats off to you for doing that Kalamaki walk........it was one of my plans for this year but the heat got the better of me.

Interesting that you say that Polycratis was one of the best meals..... in all the years we've been there, we've never tried the place. It always seems full, which to most people would be a good sign. We're a bit barmy though Confused

Hi Phillipos, Polycratis was always our favourite a few years ago then it seemed to go downhill. We looked at the menu outside but didn't go in, wish we had now. Funny thing about eateries is, it can be good one night and different another and it all depends which night you pick I'm sure lots would agree. Seeing the dolphins must have been great, how I envy you the experience. Pity you didn't manage that drink with Foxy, he was gutted!

Hi Maureen
yes you are right , about different times and opinions ,as I said of the Infinity was one of our Favs for the last 5 yrs, I suppose we may give it another go next year, when maybe a different chef or a choice of the menu may be better, I'm so sorry I gave Foxy the wrong number as I was waiting for him to text me, in Hindsight perhaps I should have text him, but I didn't want to disturb him, maybe next year as I was Looking forward to meeting up, the Mythos was also an added attraction I must admit, anyway I'm sure you enjoyed your hols as much as we did, and can't wait to get back again, wonder if Ian has any room left in his case.

Careful with your packing guys, we tried to weigh our cases but the bathroom scales wouldn't work so we thought 'what the heck - everything in the cases has to go whatever' result - we had to pay £20 for excess luggage and we had already put shoes in hand luggage. Beware also only one piece each that does not mean ladies can take a handbag aswell, as I found out. All we had to do was to sqeeze my handbag into one of the hand luggage. I'm sure I read on tinternet that we could take a handbag aswell, but of course 'they' are always right, so didn't argue.
