Enjoyed your photos. I haven't seen that many delfini at one time before. What great luck.
I have a "thing" for rocks as well. I don't know why. And Skiathos has great rocks. Of course, I like the sandy beaches, but I like the rock option also. ' ' Lehouni rocks, I like. I keep a Kechria rock in the bottom of my purse here in NY wherever I go, as some kind of talisman. Also the rocks at the beach around the point from Xanemo. |

Biblia, there were 10 delfines playing w/ our boat when I took that pic... only those would fit into my view! We were coming from Alonissos to Skopelos. But, often on our way back to town from Tsougria in the early evening we would see a few dancing about the bow or in the distance. I've never seen as many dolphins around Skiathos as I saw this spring!
Those are Lalaria rocks... i am partial to Lalaria rocks - to Lalaria, period... pure magic. But each beach holds it's own treasures, be it rocks, pebbles or shells! _________________ "If you want others to be happy, practice compassion.

Elle,
your pics are amazing
My 8yr old daughter has now made me promise that we will see dolphins on our holiday to beautiful Skiathos next month
Which trips would give us the best chance of seeing them _________________ Blue Nose |

Hi Bluenose
there's a trip to Skopelos and Alonissos islands from Skiaithos town, it takes you to the marine park near Alonissos where you can also see some rare seals I think, we were lucky enough to be in the company of a school of delfine en route from Mykonos to Naxos last year. Carly our niece first spotted them - it made her holiday. _________________ you heard it here first - BOJAN! |

Hi suejet,
thanks for the advice
My eldest daugter is 9 whist we are in Skiathos and I'm sure the sight of even just one delphine would be a great birthday present for her
I just hope that if we do see them, my 2yr old daughter doesn't try to jump overboard to swim with them - she's a livewire _________________ Blue Nose |

I agree w/ Suejet, the best chance is the trip to/from Alonissos and Skopelos.. it's a lovely trip anyway - a nice day away from Skiathos.
Sometimes the dolphin are shy - we've gone years without seeing them, but this year we saw so many and locals have said that they've seen more than years past as well.
Also - between the isle of Tsougria and Skiathos, usually in the eve., a pair may be spotted playuing just outside the harbor. Sometimes you can actually see them from the old harbor. But if you take a day trip to Tsougria (a great beach for children, though I'm afraid it must be like our Coney Island in the summertime!!) you may well see them if you take the 5:00 caique back to town. _________________ "If you want others to be happy, practice compassion.
