| Someone mentioned Naxos, now we met a Greek Canadian on the beach and he had been in the Greek navy and had visited most of the islands and now lives on Naxos. He said that everything on Skiathos was twice the price of where he lived, he couldn't believe it! |

I'm sorry but I dont recognise any of this. We came back in early August but it was still during the school holidays and busy - but not horribly busy. Never saw any drunknedness or yob culture and my daughter who was on Club Row till 5am most nights said she didnt see any sort of bad behaviour. Although she is 17, I did not worry about her once. I am sure these are isolated occurences and shouldnt put people off enjoying the island. Unfortunately many of us have to go during August for lots of reasons and I have always enjoyed Skiathos at this time - have never experienced anything but great food from welcoming taverna owners and staff. I hope no-one will be deterred from visiting the most wonderful island in Greece even in August ! _________________ www.ClearSpray.co.uk |

Well we shall soon find out, we are off on Friday - that's if our tickets ever come! Got to ring up about them again now. I think it's probably people comparing to quieter times of the year, we always go in May/June my avatar shows Big Banana during this time. We have been once in July/Aug years ago pre-kids and loved the buzz of the town, I have to say I prefer the beach to be quiet but love the town in August when all the street sellars are out. We don't mind about waiting for our meals, afterall what's the hurry you're on holiday. As long as you're not too drunk by the time the meal comes! _________________ Ooh ... can't wait to feel the sand in my toes |

I have to agree with Diamond on this one we got back on 17th August after 2 weeks in Troulos. Yeh the road was busier than normal, buses were as expected(packed) but we did not have any bad experiences re: behaviour or over-crowding on beaches. Maybe we were lucky, but we can't go at any other time in the year due to schools and job commitments. Nothing has put us off from this year, booked already for next year, roll on 01/08/08!! _________________ NickF |

I should have agreed actually on my post about the Big Banana and Koukounaries - yes. they are crowded and have loud music. We used to drop my daughter off there in the jeep and then we would spend our days on the larger choice of quiet bays on the island. There has to be something for the teenagers but I think they are in the minority. And if you want watersports then you have to head for these to have some fun. There is so much choice in Skiathos ........ Kechria, Agistros, and all the other bays people recommend. Sit there and just hear the waves and even in August there were fewer than 25 people on them some days. If you book a holiday in Troulos or Koukounaries, where I think they cater for the most package holidays, and stay put for 14 days in that resort, you will never see the true Skiathos - you have to get out by car or jeep and explore. _________________ www.ClearSpray.co.uk |

| Hi John, somebody else who can't sleep. do you mean made a mistake in booking Skiathos town, if it's too busy (it won't be in Sept by the way), you can just hop on a bus and go to one of the many beaches or other places to eat. We've been in Sept and the water is so warm. |

Havnt got round to writing my review yet..but will do. We have been to Skiathos during other months but due to work commitments have to go in August and yes 15th-22nd very busy with Italians but you can get away from the madness and despite being our 7th visit still found some peaceful places we hadnt visited before. Our second week, what a difference Koukounaries very quiet..and very relaxing on the beach after the madness of the previous week.. (if you find the right spot!)would love to go in the winter one day but still booked for next year in August, its still beautiful and the people you meet year after year make it special for us.Love your report Skiathos lad. _________________ angela |
