|
|
It went something like this:
Flight. A 3 hr delay at Gatwick had us in a bit of a panic due to flying into Skiathos so late.I was worried they would shut the airport. Finally landed about 9.30 pm Greek time.Have never landed in the dark before or with the terminal to the right of the plane.
Return flight left early and Sophias case has gone missing!
Eating out. We went to Jimmys taverna twice, the staff are very friendly and always make a fuss of Sophia. Also ate at Twighlight in Megali Ammos on the steps up to town,En Plo and sat inside for a change,Dionysis in town,Asprolithos and the new Limnaki. The only ropey dinner was at Limnaki where the food was just enough for a fly and the time it took to get it to us was the worst I have ever encountered.
Drinking. Same old and it all was good.Went to the Platanias bar for a few one night and was very enjoyable.Monica is very nice and full of info.
Weather. I was a bit worried but for no reason,27-29oC every day with just a touch of cloud.
Beaches. Saw Kouk for 2 hours on day 5.Very empty and saw Geofs catamaran in the car park.
Accom.Great for the price and bar did what it said on the tin.
In general. Fab time to be there especially if you go mid-season like we normally do.People have a bit more time to talk.A few places were starting to close e.g Time out,Carnayo,Fresh bar and a few others.Would I reccomend this time of the year? most definately but keep your eye on the weather forcasts and get a late one,so long as you don't expect it be full on and in your face.
Business.Had a real hectic time.We ended up driving into town twice a day to meet the lawyer, accountant, accom owners and Gigi. Also we opened a bank account and sorted a Greek mobile number. We got the all important tax number which no-one can operate or function without. We also found a 3 bed house near the airport to rent from March.
The Perigiali is now ours for the next 5 years,so now we have to sell up and sort out the move.Claire's mum and step-dad are coming out for 9 months to help us out.
None of this would have been possible without the help of the following people..Skiathos Lad,Geof and mostly Gigi,George and Jo at Hertz,Christos and tennis club gang,Ian and Merlin for advice,Nicholas the mayor,Ksenos,Matina and Bill from the Xanthe in Kolios, the in laws and Claire.
Our website www.perigiali-skiathos.com will hopefully be on line in around 3 weeks. We will also be having an ad on the rotating banner on the front page on www.skiathosinfo.com. |

I know I've pm'd you but I'd also like to say out loud that I'm dead jealous and also full of admiration.
To do what you've done, with a baby in tow & leaving behind a successful business in the UK takes a lot of guts.
Looks like next years Boomerang venue is sorted anyway |

Good luck to all three of you. We would like to wish you all the success in the world, you deserve it.
No doubt we will be staying with you at some stage when we manage to get a break from work and return to the island once more.
Once again, good health and good luck.

Wow! You've done it!!!
Many, many congratulations - and we wish you all every success in your exciting new venture.
The new website looks amazing.
I'll be there from Oct 14th till Dec 5th - can't wait to pop round and visit (with the bubbly of course!) and really looking forward to meeting you, properly this time (the quick 'Hello' in the lane, last July hardly counts!)
Hope the move goes smoothly too and don't forget; let me know if I can be of any help....I'll pm you my contact no's
All the best
Yvonne

I'm plotting like mad here.
Do you reckon my mortgage lender would notice if we sold our house & didn't pay 'em back? |
