While we while away the winter grey days, lets run an opinion poll to find the top 3 beaches on the Island.

My favourites are:

1st Mandraki
2nd Koukounaries
3rd Banana

I'd like to hear other's opinions especially why as I hope to look a few up sometime this year. Is there perhaps a little known beach that is a gem?

Kechria - Idyllic, unspoilt, uncluttered with rip-off artists and their
outrageously over-priced loungers, uncrowded, hospitable with Babi's
famous omelettes and Bolognaises, accessible -even for devoted hikers,
magnificent views across to the historic coast of mainland Magnesia and
last but by no means least, a continuous fresh water shower piped by
Babi from a stream running past an old mill into the sea. You can keep your Bananas and Vroms with their wall-to-wall bodies frying in Factor12,
Bat & Ball merchants trying to give the impression that they've just stepped from the centre court at Wimbledon to say nothing of their raucous offsprings. Kechria was magic back in 1976 and still is ! and Oh Yes, ice cold Mythos is available.

Paraskevi for me. We've been a bit lazy over the years & not travelled to some of the others though. Plenty we haven't tried yet & I'm determined to remedy that next time.

Foxy - that is hilarious! watching the guy who looks like the Michelin Man
holding his paunch in to impress the girl with the figure trotting past,
then letting it all out to knock over the table of drinks - and his mate!
What a waste of Mythos - although Mr. Michelin appears to have sunk a
few - no relation I hope?

Kechria sounds mega. Where is it and has any one got any photos?

I know the mountain coast road fairly well as we always hire a jeep, but it sounds as if I've missed this one.

AH Mr. Jackman - you are so poetic.... Smile
You speak as one who truly knows our little island and her graces, and holds her deep in your heart.
Makes me sigh.....

... meanwhile back on Earth, Ag. Paraskevi and Kanapitsa would be our picks.

We are not beach people, get bored in half an hour, but V does like to have a swim every other day or so. Ag. P. has been one of her favourites for years. We went to Kanapitsa for the first time in September, became an instant hit.

We don't use beds or brollies, just a big beach towel. We are also out of the peak period which may affect things.
