Hi all. I have heard that the famous “Maria’s” Restaurant is moving to somewhere nearer to the church at the top of the steps. Does anyone have any more info?

I met up with the owners of Varsakis gallery (they are the parents of Gigi, who works for Geof) and Mrs Varsakis told me that Maria needed bigger premises due to popularity.

Part of the charm is that its small and friendly, and you have to wait to get a table. If its bigger, does not mean it will be better, or have the same appeal Confused ...

I will miss the smallness, the intimacy and the rush of the waiters... Bigger isn't nec. better.
Ah... capitalism.
Too many people have learned the 'more more more me me me more' from the US - hopefully they'll look to us as well for the pitfalls that are so obvious here right now!

I can certainly tell a few from behind Very Happy Wink

We didn't ever eat at Maria's ourselves but we enjoyed being at the lovely Old Port Bar next door chatting with people who were eagerly waiting for tables and they all had nothing but praise for the place.

because I had dinner last year , and it was ok, if ok is to wait 30 minutes for a table, 15 minutes for drinks and 20 minutes for pizza, but i can tell Calypso s pizza was much better, but marias also good but nothing special to hear all these "compliments ".
i repeat there are better places with perfect view and prices and better food , ok i accept it s a nice "gay culture style" place and that always have fanatic friends.

People are free to compliment any place they like. The difference is that the members are placing the compliments, not someone from the place trying to plug it.

Can I also remind members that we can see the addresses you are posting from and the duplication of accounts from the same address, with similar content is easy to spot....
