Marias is probably our favourite restaurant on the island (10 years of visiting and there again in Sept..can't wait) the wait is often long but we go early evening to ensure a table qute quickly.
the food really is fabulous, the waiting staff have always been lovely and it's no more expensive than any decent place in town (and cheaper than some!)
we really hope it's just as good now it's moved/moving. Has anyone been & eaten at the new place yet? Very Happy

Yes, several times May and June - it is lovely, better than ever, the interior design is as eccentric and artistic as Maria's food. Our favorite for 'non Greek' cuisine.

Just walk along to the old harbour and up the steps by the Rock n' Roll Bar which you cant miss. Turn to your right and and its in the square near the church. Ask anyone. But get there early, very early, or be happy to wait. Its worth it if you love pizza and pasta.

Pizza and pasta! this is Greece. We always eat Greek food in Skiathos and wouldn't dream of eating pizza or pasta, you can have that at home.

We always choose traditional Greek tavernas as well. We have never eaten at Maria's Pizza despite the rave reviews.

Neither have we for the same reason but I do keep thinking we might be missing out on something really good, wouldn't mind trying the garlic bread which looks wonderful when you sneak a look on the plates as you walk past.

When you are on the island for a month - or more - pizza and pasta (gourmet at best) from Marias or La Torre are WELCOME from time to time!!
... as are the odd nights of spanikopita from Elina's along with a cob of fresh corn from the guy roasting on the street - slathered w/ butter and salt - eaten on a bench by Bourtzi, while watching the 'circus'. Yum.

I love Greek cuisine, but even a die hard Greek food lover such as myself needs a break once in awhile... being vegetarian might have something to do with it, since veggie options are a bit less plentiful than the meat dish options.

Maria, of Maria's pizza, is local, I believe... so IF you are in the mood for a change, GO THERE. As fast as you can. It, Maria and the ambiance (and Sotiri the waiter...) are not to be missed. In spring, it is easy to get a seat. I hear the wait is outrageous this time of year.

i'd echo Elle's comments. i LOVE greek food (i even bring spices home from the little shop at the top of Papa D street to cook souvlaki with!),.

Marias really is if you fancy a change from wonderful Greek food and to be honest, having eaten all over Italy, I can honestly say it's some of the best pizza & pasta i've ever eaten. Oh, and i'd like to adopt the waiters there, they are just fab! We go at least twice in our 2 week stay (that's indicative of the quality) preceeded by one or two Jimmys specials (during happy hour) at the end of the harbour....oh NOW i feel homesick...3 weeks next tuesday... Laughing
