Lovely pictures. Am coming back for 6th visit and can't wait until 29 August this year when back in Kolios again. We went to Skopelos this June and loved it, but I missed the golden sands of Skiathos. How do you get to Micro Asselinos and Nikotsaro? My mission is to get to the beaches we might have missed in previous years.

Lisa. You need a car, preferably a jeep for Nikotsara in particular. Actually you can walk to Mikros Aselinos if you are fit ! From Troulos - half an hour to the junction up to the dog sanctuary and then further onto Mikros Aselinos but its a fair way. But Nikotsara is way over to the east of the island. You need to look at the map. Its not far to drive from Skiathos Town - just pick up a Skymap from the airport or one of the local shops. Nikotsara is very different from many of the other bays but has no taverna - its totally secluded. You will often find just 1 other car or a couple of motorbikes there.

Thanks Diamond, we did have a map but I gave it to a girl I work with who went last year. We will hire a jeep this year, I have tried lots of the beaches by car and jeep, and do appreciate the extra manouverability. I have hung on in a tiny fiat too many times in the past while climbing a vertical slope! As the old man who drives is getting older I think we may need a four wheel drive now. Looking foward to our return so much!!!

I haven't been to any of those apart from Mandraki & Aghia Eleni Laughing

We're lazy buggers and have only bothered with a car once. Disgraceful after 6 visits.
Also because we have taken the mother-in-law for the last two years, she likes to go to all the ones she visited with her husband when he was alive (she's very sentimental & it brings back memories for her).

Lisa. you can pick up the maps anywhere but easily at arrivals at the airport.

Foxy : Shame Laughing you must must visit Kechria, it is beautiful and Babi does wonderful fish and omelettes - it is not like any other bay on the island. Go and lay in one of his hammocks Wink

HA! - The next time we visit, we'll have two granddaughters with us, aged 6 & 3. There's more chance of Kriandos being made an honorary scouser than there is of me relaxing in a hammock.
