Main courses in tavernas in Skiathos town averaged between €8-11 and I always had a half carafe of house wine which was excellent at around €4. (costs that for a large glass in the UK!!). But then of course if you are really running out of money there is always the Gyros - popular with many.

If you go to Dionnysis they do a set menu from between €11-13 depending on your choice of main course. This includes Tzatsiki or soup, Greek salad, main course followed by coffee and brandy - lovely taverna and excellent food. And you'll get a free ouzo and nibbles on arrival. Say hello to Sue on the door from Diamond Laughing

Hi there,

We stayed in Troulos in July and paid around 30-40 Euro for one starter, two main courses and a jug of wine in Troulos restaurants. If you go into town we were paying around 60-70 Euro (Portobello, Polycratis).

Of course, it depends what you want to eat, Greek dishes are cheaper, but if you want steak every night expect to pay more. I think the steak was about 25 Euro in the Portobello, but well worth it, best steak I've ever had.

However, as Diamond mentioned, you can have a portion of Gyros to eat on the hoof for a couple of Euro.

Enjoy your visit.

Goodness Kebabman, I never paid that much in town for one starter, two mains and a jug of wine Crying or Very sad The most we ever paid for that was around €35 in Asprolithos which is an another excellent taverna. €60-70 sounds extreme. Sad Dont want to panic Mrs Dibdob Laughing

The 70 Euro meal was in the Portobello, and we both had steaks that night and left a good tip, but I did notice that meal prices were a lot more expensive in town. If you stick to the local dishes then yes, about 8-10 Euro for a main course. Then again, I'm a big lad and do like my grub Very Happy .

I think we got away with paying about 20 Euro for lunch down on the beach.

A couple in our hotel said that Skiathos was a lot more expensive than Zante, where they had been a few weeks earlier. However I'd much rather be on Skiathos than Zante anytime.
