Well - I have emailed the question to Easyjet asking them to fly from Manchester to Skiathos telling them it would be a well used service.
I'll let you all know if and when I get a reply.
The saying goes "if you don't ask you don't get........"

EasyJet, like most of the other low price companies, are only interested in routes they can run full, (or there abouts), with standard aircraft, (Boeing 737's for example), 12 months of the year.
I seriously doubt they could fill a 737 way out of season. _________________ Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

Dear Voyatzis,
Thank you for your email suggesting that we operate a route to Skiathos.
As you know, easyJet do not fly to Skiathos at present but we are always grateful for comments and suggestions from our passengers and are constantly looking for routes that would be in demand all year round.
I would suggest that you register for easyJet e-mail updates on the easyJet web site. As well as advising of new routes, this will also give advance notice of the schedule release dates and information on exclusive Internet fare discounts.
If you would like to receive such emails, please go to the ‘my easyJet.com’ section at the top of our homepage, scroll down and click on ‘sign up now’ and enter your email address and password. I have included a link to this section;

Thank you for taking the time to contact us Voyatzis. If you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us again via the contact us section of the easyJet web site.
Yours sincerely

-well - I will gladly be tea lady (who wants a shot of gin or ouzo in their mug )
as for Easyjet routes - yes they have been servicing Myconos this year so why not Skiathos if enough people ask????
perhaps like some of the routes they might be seasonal only. I suppose the next question would be could they consider Athens or Thessaloniki from/to Manchester - last night I priced up London/Ath/Thess routes for Dec and they are approx 42 euros each way - personally I think that would be fine if it were from Manchester and I'd be booked already.
Of course the old Liverpool London route would help too. (that's another email going tonight) _________________ you heard it here first - BOJAN! |

VLM were operating that route & I've heard they're one of the favourites to go under next. |

As Glenn (my husband) works for BA I have got him to ask for a Skiathos route from Manchester, but as they only now fly anywhere from London I seriously doubt they will take him up on it. _________________ Member of the "I got married in Skiathos" club

EasyJet have flown Gatwick to Mykonos this year. The last flight of the season is 5th October, (£45.99 at the time of writing). I don't know if this service was a full year coming to an end, or a seasonal service. EasyJet have, in the past, always said they were not interested in seasonal routes, but I noticed they are doing the "EasyJet Ski Lift" this winter which is a load of seasonal flights to ski destinations.
EasyJet's smallest planes are AirBus A319's in a high density configuration carrying 156 passengers at full load. I know A319's in a high density configuration are certified for JSI, (I flew in one Monday!). EasyJet are buying more of these planes.
EasyJet do have some smaller Boeing 737-700's carrying 149 passengers, but these are being phased out and are only used on a few routes from Luton, Belfast and Newcastle.
The other planes in EasyJet's existing, (and "orders and options"), fleet are not certified to land at JSI, only the 319's are worth considering.
XL flew 737-800's in a single class high density configuration, 189 passengers at full load.
Things to find out.
1) How many flights a week did XL make from which airports?
2) How many passengers were flight only?
Assuming a seasonal flight, the info from above can be used to make or break a business case. Assuming that EasyJet would be able to acquire the route licences, (which also cover take off/landing slots etc.), which is by no means certain.
For a full year route, say a once a week flight, are 156 or thereabouts people per week going to go, and come back, (long stay's are useless as the planes return empty and make no money), out of season?
Just some thoughts. _________________ Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

The off season Olympic from Athens runs just twice weekly.
Its rarely full (in my experience) and it flew once with just seven passengers.
Its a Dash8 or AE4, and probably is heavily subsidised by the government. _________________
