hello to all who are used to come to Skiathos directly from England,
you can always come the same way we from Belgium have to do it: a flight from Brussels to Athens, then the Olympic flight from Athens to Skiathos. (most off the time possible in one day) To go back we need 2 days because the flight back to Athens is always in the late evening so we have to sleep one night to get the plane back to Brusels next morning.
I agree, not that easy and not low on price, but if you want to come to paradise, ...... |

Hi Mike
I've already done this, but it's a good suggestion to do Jet 2 as well so I'll do this too. I also suggested to easy Jet that it would be an improvement if they had flights to Athens also from the North of England not just London. Hope you and yours are well. May be we'll see you in December. |

The problem is guys not if Easyjet will run flights but if it is profitable for them and I'm afraid that it isn't. Most of the greek airports are under the influence of the Federation of Tour Operators, who bring in far more flights than Easyjet could and Easyjet get quoted stupid amounts to land their aircraft/refueling. Look were Easyjet fly to and you'll see that 95% of their destinations are major airports with international traffic and therefore no outside influence. I worked on Corfu in 2005, one of our transfer reps lived on the island and was an ex-pat, the UK ex-pat community in Corfu is very large at approximately 15,000 they managed to send a petition to Easyjet with over 10,000 signatures, but with no success.
The cheap airlines, like any other business, operate according to a business model. With fuel prices being what they are, and airport taxes increasing to meet politically-imposed standards, not to mention other continually fluctuating circumstances, an airline must keep its planes not only full of passengers, but aloft day and night, to score a profit.
Whereas Spain, or the South of France, offer the airlines a two-hour journey from the UK - and subsequently two and half trips per day as opposed to one and half when flying to and from Skiathos it becomes obvious why the cheap airlines are unlikely to take up the route. |

| Easyjet DO operate flights to Corfu and to Heraklion and Cyprus. I wouldn't expect them to be cheap though, all the Crete flights out of Manchester were over £300 return when I last looked. |

| Yes I forgot they had started a few flights now, also Ryan Air also run a few few flights to Corfu too, but they're both very expensive and tend to be used by ex-pats who don't have to lash our for accomodation on top. If you wanted to fly next week 3/10/08 (bearing in mind October is hardly peak season) £284.00!! Yet if you check out the Olympic Holidays site you can fly from Gatwick, stay in various accomodations (all with pool) in either Kavos, Rhoda, St George or Paleocastritsa for £228.00. Even if you don't stay there it's easier cheaper than the Easyjet flight!! |

Believe it or not I have just been looking at a week in Crete out of Manchester in October for £230 on the Olympic site. Dunno why as I'm not going.
Next year is being booked this weekend also with Olympic. £450 pp for two weeks at the end of July. Mustn't grumble. |

I do remember writing to Easyjet a few years ago, and actually got quite a reasonable reply about flying to Skiathos, along the lines that they were always interested but it had to be a business decision etc. They are now flying to Thessaloniki of course, so I would think a gentle barrage of suggestions might be in order. |
