Advice please if I may.

Can anyone suugest wether its best to book a Car or 4 wheeled Motorbike for Hire in advance in the UK before arriving on Skiathos or actually book it when we are actually on the island.
If on the island any suggestions as we will be staying in Koukanaris July 2009

Hi. Without doubt the best option is to hire a 4x4 Jimny or Samurai. It will be cheaper to sort it out when you are here & the best places will probably be Victoria in Troulos or, more conveniently in Koukounaries, Mustang run by Magda who you will find on this site. Please do not be tempted to hire a quad bike. We see them overturned far too regularly & sadly this year resulting in fatality.

Hi. I would second the advice from steveandkimbo. I have been to Skiathos 3 times in the past 2 years and have always hired a 4x4 Suzuki Jimny in advance from the UK. The first time we picked the car up from our hotel in Troulos as we had a coach transfer to the hotel. The 2 times we have been this year we booked the hotel and flight separately and therefore didn't have a coach transfer, so we arranged to pick the car up from the airport, bypassing any queues for the coach, and saving quite a bit on a taxi. I'm not sure if it would be cheaper to hire once you are there, as I haven't done that, my thinking was that I wanted to be sure of getting the car I wanted when I wanted. We have used Victoria (Sixt) once and Mustang twice without any problems.
We were on Skiathos in July when a young girl was killed and her friend badly injured on one of these quad bikes...I would pay the extra for a car and be safer Smile
