|
|
I have just received a letter from Christos and Soula who own the Paradosi and they have said that due to the recession and poor business they have done there for the last two years, they have decided to leave the Paradosi Taverna and concentrate on the Skiathos Diamond Apartments side of there business (including opening a snack bar there).
A very sad occasion, for a couple who are extremely friendly and hospitable in welcoming you to the taverna. _________________ http://www.skiathosboomerang.co.uk |

This is very sad news indeed.
As a resident here in Skiathos, it breaks my heart to see any good business going down the toilet.
I wish Soulla all the best for the future. I will see her at the school at collection time tomorrow and have a chat with her. |

A couple of years back,it was as popular as Varellis.....people queuing for good scoff !
Last year it appeared very quiet tho, mores the pitty.
I think that, only the bus stop is open on that corner now !
How`s the building work above Varellis ? coming on any ? |

Is that still going on? They started that about 3 years ago!
Silly question really - we're talking Greece |

One of the sad things regarding that end of Troulos now is that it looks a little bit of a bomb site.
The development over the top of the Varelli is a long way off completion, a couple of winters at least.
I recall that in 93 and 94 that neck of the woods was a busy area, the Appaloosa was full every night, the Stars taverna had Greek nights, Christakis was doing well and the chinese was passable.
It seams to me that over the years Platanias has taken over. |

Somehow I missed this post, and heard from a friend tonight of the Paradosi closing so very sad!
As Reginald said we too can remember the days in the 90's when Apaloosa was heaving way into the early hours, the disco above the supermarket, not that we ever saw anyone go in just the lights and music. Yes, Star bbq it closed down and they left the bar there if I remember. The Morfos used to be packed both outside and inside. Having stayed in Troulos all but once since about 1988 it is very sad to see what is happening, but we will always love this place no matter what. _________________ Karen&Phil

| Speakig to Soula at school yesterday, she said it is not for ever. Its just that over the last seaso it did not do very well because of the recession. They also have 2 lots of studios, and 3 children under 6. So this year she will concentrate on the studios and maybe next year....... she may reopen |

Good.
With Paradosi closing it means those of us who use Varelli won't have to suffer the appalling pseudo Greek music they blasted across the road last year in an attempt to put Varelli customers off their food.

| Sucha shame that Paradosi is closing. We always eat there a lot and they are a lovely couple. Troulos was very quiet last year. Not sure what we are doing this year. |
