Just back from a fantastic week with our family - Joy & I plus my big sister & her husband stayed at Jimmy's Studios & Pool Bar, Dimitri & his Mum & Dad (Katerina & Nikos) were as hospitable as ever and we celebrated Joy's birthday (one of the "O" sort) a few days early at the BBQ night there. The food was lovely, all home made, and after the Greek dancing Dimitri put on his 'Elvis' show (as seen on TV apparently!) Our daughter, hubby & kids stayed at the Magic Hotel, top floor!! What a view, BUT what a climb up all those steps! Not so clever with a 3 year old & a baby of 10 months!

Won't go into all the wining and dining experiences but suffice to say we ate at 'The Windmill' for the first time and weren't disappointed. Joy is still talking about the salmon in ouzo!

We hired a jeep from Victoria which was waiting at the airport & Nikos gave us a good price €200 for a Jimny which I thought not at all bad. The cases went on the truck as with four not-unsubstantial adults there was only room for hand baggage in the jeep.

On the day before our return, however (Yes I suppose we should have gone to the Welcome Meeting, but who wants to waste an afternoon when you're only there for a week) we discovered that Olympic no longer pick up your luggage from the studios due to 'security issues' (i.e. leaving it laying about at the Tiffany taverna by the airport which is understandable I suppose) and expect you to carry it 400 metres to the main road which would have been quite impossible for my sister & husband (who are well stricken in years) and not so clever for ourselves either! So we ended up making two trips to the airport, one with the luggage & bro' in law to stand guard then return for the ladies.

Does anyone know if this is just an Olympic thing as I've not seen anyone else mention the problem on here AND Olympic certainly didn't point out this change of procedure when we booked. Can't help but think this will damage bookings for accommodations off the main road if something isn't sorted out. Dimitri said Olympic wanted the accommodation owners to supply & pay for the luggage truck, carefully washing their hands of the security issues I suppose.

Met Geof briefly up in town on our last day, he looked remarkably well only I thought his hair looked curlier than ever. Surprising what 33000 volts does Very Happy

Best Wishes to you all

Chris & Joy

Sounds like a cop out to me. These days, firms/governments/etc. can get away with anything if they use the magic "S" word.

All the major Scandinavian operators are using the baggage truck in both directions. Having been frustrated by it's delays, and occasional cockups, we do not use it.
