If you are thinking of buying a property in Skiathos, you will need to open a Greek bank account in order to import the necessary funds to purchase the property. You need to do this so that the Greek tax authorities know that you have not earned the money in Greece and you are therefor NOT liable to Greek income tax - very important!
This used to be relatively simple, your passport and some money (+/- 300 Euros) was sufficient. Now however, the banks want to see proof that you pay tax in your home country and proof of your residence there. Usually your P40 should be enough so, if you are coming to Skiathos with the possibility in mind to invest here, bring this with you (the original, not a copy).
