Thanks Ian - it is starting to feel a bit more real now... a fortnight of DIY to get the house sorted here in the UK ready for rent has about done us in - but other than that it hasn't been too bad. Still got to pack, and no doubt that will make it feel even more real...
Look forward to meeting you in the Kaz hopefully soon.

Good luck with the drive! We arrived over a month ago now and have settled in well, the dogs love it! Im helping at the shelter again each day and my greek dog spends his day in with the others and loves all the playing!
The weather is unpredictable now, was on the beach till 6pm last night and today planned to go when we had finished at the shelter but clouds came over!
Hopefully meet you at some point, i have a job at weekends at blue bar on the old port! |

Hi Firefly - good to hear from you! Glad you have settled in well (and the dogs!).
I want to help out at the shelter too - I've emailed them a few times but not had a reply. I'll introduce myself when we arrive, I'm sure they can find me some voluntary work to do!
How was your journey over there? Did you drive Igoumenitsa to Volos?
Let me know, plus how long it took you. We set off on Saturday (cripes!!) can't believe it is so soon. I am getting excited now, but we still have loads to sort out here getting our house ready for rent. The pressure is really on now...
We plan to take our time on the journey, stopping off at my brother's in Austria and then Lake Como for a day or two. Did you pre-book ferries? We aren't going to, so I hope there's loads of room when we turn up!
Will defo look you up when we get there - we'll be at the Kazbar so drop by if you get chance!
All the best, Bee x _________________ We welcome you to visit us at the Kazbar, Skiathos Town - Probably the best bar in the world!

It will be good to see you at the shelter, we have new dogs being dumped everyday so lots of work to be done.
I arrived in france on the tuesday morning about 9 stopped in switzerland that night at about 9 then left about 7 the next day got on the 1.30pm ferry from ancona to patras, got off it about 12.30 on the thursday, took my dogs for a quick toilet stop on the beach there, then drove through to volos, got there about 5.30 and stayed in the avra for the night, they let me have both dogs in the room which was good, then on the ferry to skiathos on the friday! Was a suprisingly smooth journey actually. I didnt pre book the ferrys but some friends had a problem getting on the skiathos ferry 2 wks ago apparantly their van was too big and the waiting list was 2 weeks, but that might be sorted now. The kennels on the big ferry are not very nice, i didnt like leaving the dogs there.
I really hope all goes smoothly for you, and we will see you soon. |

Thanks Firefly... think I may try to pre-book the ferry.. we are travelling in a massive motorhome, so chances are there could be problems. I will sort it out tomorrow. Good news with that though is that the dogs can stay in the camper with us - no need to use the kennels!
This is my last posting now as our internet access is being switched off tonight. I will be in touch when we arrive !
