Hello all! Just returned from my weeks holiday to Koukounaries and I must say,all your comments had been most relevant and helpful!
The weather was sunny and breezy with a stormy day Weds but cleared up again on Thursday for my superb boat trip to Skopelos and Alonnosis,we even had Dolphins with us during the trip-amazing to watch! Skopelos was wonderful, climbed up to the top with a guided tour and enjoyed every minute!
The only set back was,for the first few days, very few places were open anywhere on Skiathos!!Had trouble finding a place to get a Mythos on my first day! Tradgedy!!!But did find Golden Beach Hotel,a few doors away was open and most helful-food and beer, excellent!
Holiday was most relaxing I have ever had,but a bit too hilly for my husband and,if I went back,it would be in June or at least end of May! _________________ Sandy |

Glad to hear you enjoyed beautiful Skiathos. That is the problem with the first week and the last week of the season restaurants have not yet opened or have closed. Did you not head off into town? you would have found a variety of restaurants open there. The trip to Skopelos/Alonisos is lovely,we have done it a few times now, and still enjoy it better each time. You were also honoured with the Dolphins!!!!
June is a lovely time to go, you will find everything open then. We are off 6 weeks next Friday, sounds better than 7 weeks as yesterday doesn't it???? and can't wait, have been out buying a few new clothes today ready to put in the case.

Hi, Thanks for reply,I am sure you will have a wonderful holiday and it seems to be the week before you go ,that time drags!!!
I went into town a couple of times, and, yes, there were more places available, but not many really!!!
Found the buses excellent-hourly for first 4 days,then/now will be half hourly, fare is 1.50e,Koukounaries to town, which was very cheap,in comparison to home!
Enjoy your holiday and hope you see dolphins too!
Kindest regards,Sandy _________________ Sandy |
