We have just returned from a week at Villa Melia at Vassilias Beach. We noted a few reports about eating out being more costly before we went and were concerned that our budget might not stretch so far. However we were pleasantly surprised, perhaps we didn't push the boat out but to give some idea this is what a typical meal cost for 4 of us:
Starter:
1 Greek Salad
1 Tzaziki or Taramaslata
basket of bread
Main:
Souvlaki
Mousaka
Lamb Chops
Stifado
Sweet:
usually some free fruit
Drinks:
Always something on the house!
Half litre house wine
1 Large Mythos
1 Fruit juice
1 Water
All this for about 60 euros (about £12.00 each) not bad value considering some of the beautiful places we ate. |

| Was that the average in town or troulos? What was the average price for drinks in the bars, did you think it was busy. |

| We mainly ate in the town. Our favourite places were Asprolithos (ate there twice, they give you a ouzo cocktail and a big fresh fruit salad for free!) Selini, Plakes and the one in the middle of the town with the two musicians - can't recall the name but it is a date? We also had a nice meal at the taverna on Kanapitsa beach and a great lunch at Platanos high up overlooking the town. A local chap also highly recommended Anatoli (in hills behind town) but we didn't get there. Some of these have websites so you can look them up to get the location. We didn't do the bars so are unable to comment. |

| oops sorry....meant to say that it was not too busy, we easily got a nice seat everywhere we ate, June is a good time to go. We were told that there are 75,000 tourists in Skiathos from mid July to August, I think things would be very different then! |
