| I'm a regular in Skiathos and love the island as many of you do. It's always sad to hear about bitchiness and back-biting amongst the Greeks. We were staying in Agia Paraskevi and visited the tavernas there, Kohili, Magic, and Ostria. We had a lovely time at the Ostria greek night, great fun, fab food etc. the next night we decided to try Kohili-NEVER AGAIN!!! It was unbelievable, the owner and an english guy who works there just started slagging off Ostria! Claiming it had failed the health tests and had rats! When we ate at Ostria it was lovely, the vitriolic attack left a bitter taste in our mouths! We thought it unnecessary for a taverna owner to try and damage the reputation of another business. Luckily we weren't stupid enough to believe them!! We went to Ostria the next day and were chatting to the two owners and we told them what they'd said- they were so upset, they showed us all their certificates etc. It was heartbreaking for the guys as they later found out Kohili had been telling loads of customers these lies. Ostria, Magic etc were lovely but DO NOT GO TO KOHILI!!!!!! |

I can certainly vouch for that ! We have stayed AND ate at Ostria 2 years running in 2002/2003 and it was absolutely gorgeous and spotless !! so sad to hear those comments i'm sure Makis would not have been happy to hear such rubbish We are arriving in Aghia in 5 weeks and staying at Magic but Ostria will be one of the 1st places we will visit |

OMG!
The same thing happened to me but at a different place business must be bad if they are resorting to this!
I was at the Pool Bar Agelika in Troulos and was approached buy a drunken Greek man (Dimitris I think) a guy around 60ish I would say he said that he owned the place or this family did, in conversation and without provocation he blatantly condemned a taverna named Yammas telling me not to eat there unless I wanted food poisoning, I did not stay long after this encounter and never did visit Yammas thought best not to chance it.

| The thing that worries me is that people don't seem to question why a taverna owner would slander another taverna! I know we are on holiday but have we abandoned our brains? i have nothing but contempt for the people who have to do this, obviously their businesses are awful otherwise they could rely on their reputations to do the talking, instead of destroying the other tavernas and bars. |

Myself and my family were really shocked to hear what went on at the Kohili as we know the owner (wont name him) there very well (going there for 9 years 2/3 times a year) and we always used to frequent the place, at least for breakfast and for a couple of evening meals during our time on the island, and if not we would stop for a drink in the bar. However, I must say that myself, my husband and my family have noticed and commented on a significant change in the owners attitude for the last year and half.
The place itself has lost its charm and so has the owner, and the food is not as good as it used to be, and the staff are bascially not interested, the only one person who is worth her wait in gold is the barmaid. We recently came back from a weeks holiday and only went there once during our holiday. While we were eating we noticed so many people left because they werent statisfied with the service/food etc, people even had problems paying the bill. The english waiter was in fact waiting tables with only one shoe on, how professional is that!! I know its greece and everything is laid back but thats taking the mickey, and the owner was getting more and more frustrated because he could see all this going on and did nothing about it. It would appear that since his long term staff left last year the place has gone down hill. A few days afterwards we walked past and the owner seen us and was basically rude to us saying that he had lost us as customers, we tried to explain but he didnt want to listen.
Some of our english and greek friends who live on the island have also made comment to us about the attitude of the staff and that the owner is only happy when he is making money and boy does that come across in his body language now, so I am not surprised that methods to discredit others are now being used to try to recup money which is being lost, which of course is extremely out of order and you just dont do it.
We are going back in September so we will see if things have changed, I suspect not. _________________ Thanks
