Hi, just booked today a holiday to Skiathos, going 19th September, and have just come across this site whilst researching the island. Am keen to hear from anyone who has stayed in Troulos lately, can make any recommendations for places to go/eat/see.
Can you get day trips to Skopelos for Skiathos? Am travelling with my mum, who has come over all ABBa-esque and wants to visit the Island.
Can you hire pedal bikes there?
What's the weather generally like in September?
Any help and advise would be much appreciated.
Many thanks, Jacqui |

1. Eating - plenty of recommendations on the Restaurants & Tavernas forum.
2. Day trips to Skopelos - Yes. You can either take one of the pleasure boat trips (you only get about an hour on Skopelos) or take a Flying Dolphin for a direct trip over if you want to spend the whole day there.
3. Weather - Usually hot during the day, have experienced a couple of monsoons..not for long though. Odd nights can be a bit chilly round the harbour if there's a breeze but only so much that you need a long-sleeved shirt or jumper. Most nights are still pretty warm though.
4. Pedal cycles - dunno. That's too much like hard work for me so I've never inquired. |

Foxy is right. If you want to spend any time on Skopelos, you should go on the Dolphin. You can get tickets at the office opposite the terminal, at the end of Pappadiamantis Street. The Mama Mia film website has a map showing where the locations are, but be advised they are well spread out so probably not easy to get round in a few hours. _________________ Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

September is a great time to visit, and it can be a little changeable, and sometimes stormy. But you do have to experience a Sporades thunderstorm. The sea will be warm though when you go for a swim.
Getting to Skopolos is easy, go to Skopolos town, via the dolphin/fastcat ask for directions from the harbour to the bus station (Easy 5 min walk) and take the bus that goes to Glossa / Panormos / Agondas. it costs around €2 each way.
Get off at the small harbour at Agondas, have lunch in the taverna and you are looking at one of the locations on the film. _________________

Hi Jacqui, pleased you have found us. I suppose watching Mama Mia is going to have that effect on lots of folks. We've been to see it twice and love it, mind you we love Skiathos too. We will be there from 16th too and staying in Troulos. There are lots of places to eat in Troulos but don't be scared about hopping on a bus and dropping off at one of the other places or going into town. Lots of us are having a meet up on Saturday 20th and probably in town so if you want to join us you are welcome. Come on here often and pick up lots of tips.
By the way Jacqui, where are you staying? |

Hi Maureen, thanks so much for your reply-the site is really useful and great to explore. It's making me look forward to my holiday even more now!
I went to Skiathos back in 2006 with my husband and children. We stayed in Troulos then too - La Luna. This time, the holiday is a 'real' holiday - NO KIDS!! Travelling with my mum - we are celebrating her 'special' birthday, although it's not until December. (Any excuse for a holiday!) We are travelling with Libra Holidays to Beltsios Hotel/Apts, Troulos. Any feedback you can offer me on this Hotel would be appreciated. Where are you staying? I am at work so better go now. Would be great to heard back from you. Jacqui |
