Sphere that reminds me of when we sent out wedding invitations on postcards from the island (we thought it would be quite a nice idea) but they arrived with four weeks between the first and last one which meant some people were wondering why they hadn't received one when others had.

Interestingly I have just discovered the answer to this problem. Put postcards into a white envelope and they will arrive within 5 days. My postcards took 2-1/2 weeks to arrive which isnt bad for July but having just requested a copy of the Skiathos Walks booklet mentioned on this site and being told it would arrive in 5 days, I naturally questioned that! And was told if you place them in an envelope and send preferably from the main post office on Papadiamantis Street they will go quickly. Postcards take low priority. They must sift them out and put them aside as less important - strange idea!

Re Postcards.

I have also received the Skiathos Walks Book, and it arrived as if it had been posted first class in the UK
I think it will be worth taking envelopes with us for postcards this year. Smile

I sent a postcard to my parents from the Isle of Arran around Easter 1976, it hasn't arrived yet.

First time I came in September 2002 I sent my girlfriend a postcard, posting it at the airport on the way home. It didn't arrive.
I was so impressed with Skiathos that I persuaded the memsahib to come back with me the next September (don't usually do return visits to the same place - that's for old people isn't it?).
While we were there her flatmate was amazed to receive a card from me addressed to her - yes it was the one I sent the year before, just 50 weeks late.
Next trip will be my 10th visit, my friends just know not to expect postcards.

I just don't send cards anymore. I text our kids and ring my mum to say 'wish you were here'.
