Off to Skiathos for the 5th time on Friday 15/8 & can't wait after 2 years since my last visit.
Does anyone have any experiences of the Villa Maria in Troulos?
& does it have a pool? If not does anyone have any recommendations of a pool close by that is open to non residents? This is mainly for the benefit of my son & partner whilst I go off 1 or 2 days in the week hiking my way around the island exploring.
& finally thanks to all the posters whose tips & info I have used for previous trips... |

| Welcome to the board ollerdeekid, we have stayed at Villa Maria 3 times and we are going again in September. There is a lovely pool around the back. Troulos beach is close by too. If you want anymore info about Villa Maria just ask. |

| Forgot to say, Villa Maria is a lovely place to stay. Not far from the bus stops, beach, shops, places to eat. Also the place is very clean and Angela the owner is very helpful. We find it nice and quiet as there is no bar and none immediately nearby. |

Thanks for the info. I enjoy being based in Troulos as I can then explore the island in any direction....usually on foot.
My girlfriend thinks I'm mad as a I head off with my iced water into the hills to the other side of the island... usually with the temperature soaring.
Although Villa Maria seems quite chilled so I might just spend a few hours relaxing by the pool myself this time... |

Hi
Cannot praise Villa Maria enough, we are here at the moment, apartment is lovely, we are staying on the ground floor which has the sun on the balcony in the afternoon, nightime in the room is cool and comfortable, for the first time not requiring air con or a fan!
Beautiful pool and surrounding gardens, cannot fault a thing!
Enjoy!!!
We don't want to come home.
Greetings from Skiathos |

Having never gone to Skiathos in August what's the current climate like & how busy is the island? |

Hi Ollerdeekid (gr8 username)!
Their was quite a storm Sunday night however things have resumed back to hot hot hot! and clear skies!
As for the buses we would recommend hiring a car, it is extremely busy on the island, lots of italians/greeks making their way back from Banana Beach each night, a taxi driver informed us that each evening their are 2000 people coming from the Kouk/Banana Beaches!!!!
Last weekend we waited for a bus into town, 3 passed full to capacity! fortunatey we were lucky enough to get a taxi into town! for us this was the icing on the cake and we decided to hire a car.
Having said all of the above Skiathos would not be the same without the buses so shouldnt complain!!! before we know it we will be back in rainy old blighty.
Have a good journey out and will hopefully catchup, we don't go back until 19th.
