Hello, my boyfriend and I are going to Skiathos for the first time next week and just wanted to know whether anyone has ever stayed at the Areti apartments? Also are there many late night bar around Trolous? We're both in our late twenties and don't want club type bars or karaoke joints, but somewhere with something going on!
Thank you |

All bars in Skiathos are late. Last one out, shuts the door
To be honest, in Troulos..the only sort of thing "going on" will be Kareoke in the Agellika Pool Bar. Any other entertainment is the odd band or singer in Town. |

The "Frog" bar in Troulos has a reputation for only closing when the last customer has left.
Many people have come to regret this the following day!
It's at the top of the short road which leads down to the beach, next to a supermarket.
Captain Nikos and Victoria bar often stay open late (or early, depending on how you look at it!).
Strange thing about Greek air. When you're in these bars they are just as noisy as you'd expect a bar to be at 2.0am. As soon as you leave and start walking down the road to get back to your apartment, the noise vanishes. How can that be?!
Have a good holiday.

i shat it down at 2 am every night.
i have to worry about the rooms, and i know it can get a bit noisy,
so after 2 give or take 10 min it is strangely eerie quite,
me and the staff whisper.
one must keep in mind there is a middle way and not all want to party so....
but it definitely gets lively and sometimes difficult to get everyone up and going.
i serve drinks only up to 10 min before 2, and make sure they know they have only a few min to drink up.
still the only thing that really works is that i tell them plz dont make the staff work overtime.
or that the family in the room across the bar has a child unwell.........
it is a difficult task but i have managed it so far( 20 odd years).
as well i have realized that if i serve them more, quite often they regret it next morn and in reality i lose business the next day.
but i have spoke to much .
after all the secrets of the trade must remain hidden....... |

Hi
We stayed at the Areti apartments 2 years ago, the apartments are very clean and from the pool bar area, you have a great view across kolios bay.
One downside is the steep climb to the apartments.
We are going to skiathos on the 12th and were looking to book the areti, but all the apartments had gone.
Have a good time.

| Can certainly comment on the Agelika Pool Bar! We have just returned from their apartments, Koukias, and can vouch that they stay open late. We haven't managed to get to sleep until 3am every single morning as our room was one of the closed to the bar. Nightmare. |

Bit naughty that really isn't it?
Especially for those who have young kids with them. |

Pidge and I know the Frog bar well... it's right by bus stop no. 20. It's a handy watering hole on the way back from the beach We have got to know Lisa the barmaid quite well since we stayed in Troulos last year, and called in a few times this year in July... no doubt we will drop in again a few times this September Where is your bar Skiathos lad _________________ This is not a rehearsal......live life to the full. |

Tezza, we say that because we mean it.
We don't frequent bars - We don't like hanging around a bunch of drunken sots who can't speak their native tongue because they're so f'd up.
We like Mike's bar because it is comfortable, he plays great music, you can be out under the trees and the stars, or inside a cozy, comfortable space that has great and unique character.
We played there one time. Only. (both of us gave up playing bars about 20 years ago. But for Mike....)
The times we were there we felt totally comfortable and relaxed, we could speak in a normal voice to the person seated next to us (no shouting drunks, no brawls, no bad 1980's rock and roll blaring and we're not crying from the thick pall of other people's chainsmoking, indoors... no problem at ALL with smoking, I do occasionally, just have trouble with people who feel that everyone else, indoors, should also have to smoke whether they want to or not -), not to mention Mike being a lovely host - he even recognized and very warmly welcomed a friend of ours that he hadn't seen for probably 15 or 20 years, from old days at the Slip In.
Oasis Bar is - to us - the best.
That said - we prefer sitting at the old harbor watching the caiques bobbing and swaying - the promenade, into the night along the paralia - sitting quietly with good friends over a bottle of greek wine or tsipouro and meze... (we still have to listen to BAD '80's rock and roll sometimes, can't quite figure that one out...) _________________ "If you want others to be happy, practice compassion.

Don't be so quick to generalise, Elle. We frequent bars every night in Skiathos. However we've never been "drunken sots" we can always speak our native tongue & we're never f'd up. |

Oh please, Foxy, read for content, OK?
I said WE don't frequent bars - we don't like drunken sots, is there something wring with that? Of course there's nothing wrong w/ anyone having a great time in a bar drinking a lot, too much, whatever... it's the stupid, falling down, loud, grunting, whiney (think Kenneth Brannaugh's wife Carol in the film 'High Season') intrusive people that we just don't want to spend our time around, on holiday... or anywhere, for that matter. You cannot argue that there's a lot of them in almost every bar on the island.
We've been to many nice bars on Skiathos, over 26 years, we've had many a great time ourselves with too much wine, mojitos, whatever... but you won't find me stripping off my top (thank Goddess), doing a lap dance with the bar's dog and then puking on the table and yelling 'foooootbaaaaalllllll ra ra ra ra!!!' and then needing to be escorted home because I can't see two steps in front of myself, let alone walk...
- we don't FREQUENT the bars.
Do I need to spell anything else out for anyone?
Tezza?
Do I need to tell you that oops, we don't do traditional music!!! So, of course, you're right, the amazingly talented band at Bakalico plays far better trad. Greek music than we do??????????
And we have spent many a night there listening to them because we think they're amazing? We honor anyone playing Greek music on our lovely Greek isle... there was a great trad. band at the now defunct Shade of Athos a few years ago, too... loved them.
Foxy, dear, I never said YOU were a drunken sot - though, haven't met you yet, have I now?
Come on now... you and Tezza might need a get together, the 'get p o'd at Elle' club. _________________ "If you want others to be happy, practice compassion.
