Hi everyone
So sad to hear of the collapse of XL/Kosmar and all the problems and hardship it has and is causing.
I'm really posting here to ask for help, I noticed on the 'properties for sale' pages that what appears to be the Eleni Villa (as was?) is up for sale.
We stayed at these apartments in 2005 when we went independently and had a great time. The property is situated in Troulos ,on the Asselinos road, a few hundred metres up from the junction on the right hand side. There is the skeleton of a building just inside the gates and a very steep hill up to the owner's house and the apartments. Malcolm Archer, the owner, was a very nice, friendly and helpful guy. When we stayed there his wife was not well and had returned to GB and he was running the place on his own - and doing a great job.
I was wondering if anyone knows anything about why the property is up for sale? Have they returned to England? Has something more serious happened? I have tried to find out from his contact in GB but have had no reply as yet.
Thanks in anticipation.
We have not been to this glorious island for a couple of years due to my ill health but hope to return in July 2009 to celebrate my 60th. Fingers crossed.
We're off to Mauritius in January to start the 60th year celebrations. _________________ No sign says it is:

It's me again and I am going to answer my own question.
You see, after posting the message about Eleni Villas I went to my personal e-mail and lo and behold I had a message from Eilleen Archer, wife of Malcolm saying that their friend whom I had e-mailed had passed my message on to them and here she was replying.
I was glad to hear that they are both in fine fettle but that after being in Troulos for 26 years they had decided to sell up and do a bit of travelling of there own. It's nice to know that they are ok. Isn't the internet a wonderful thing!! _________________ No sign says it is:

Put quite simply they disliked the greeks and the greeks disliked them even more and now you know why they kept their big metal gates locked at all times. |
