On Tuesday 30th,when we actually had some sun in skiathos during our weeks holiday, that was a puddle of sticky mud! Mrs Meerkat was trying to stop the bus from leaving without us,when her feet went from underneth her and she ended up in the mud! And very embarassed, got on the bus covered in mud whilst all the passengers laughed at her!She was sober too!

We were in Skiathos for the same week and even though generally there was more rain than sun we never, ever, for one minute regretted going, even when my jeans were soaked up to my knees! There's no better place to be.

Totally agree with you, there's no better place, rain or shine. We did loads in the week we were there as we hired a jeep and explored and went to places we wouldn't have gone to if the weather had been sunny,we would have been beach bums if it had,so it made a nice change. If we go next year we have learnt our lesson and will pack some warm things! We spent the week wearing the same jumper day after day!

Please don't misunderstand folks , we had an absolutely fantastic time and never stopped laughing from beginning to end.
Even on rainy days we found somewhere to eat and drink in comfort.
Our last day on Banana was cloud then rain, but to his credit, Iolis kept the taverna open, when the other had closed a week earlier, and looked after all his customers with a smiling face and a witty humour.
We'd never left the beach so " drenched " for years ...... Deep Sea's fault in those days as I recall

Hi Meerkat. Bet we passed you on the road a few times in our jeep. We were out and about most days. It was nice and quiet. There wasnt a soul about when we went to Kastro. I know what you mean about being a beach bum, my hubby usual leaves me on the beach while he goes exploring. Not sure we'd go quite so late next year but then again from what I gather I think we were a tad unlucky with the weather.

Yes,you may well have! We went to Kastro on Sat 27th,it was really good up there, amazing views and the sea was a perfect colour.Saw the guys in one of the old churches doing some restoration on the wall frescos. We went the same time last year and had great weather,I guess it's the chance you take when you go at the end of the season!
