We too love Carnayo in Skiathos Town, we eat there quite a lot, just love the food and they are very accommodating with the kids i.e. will do half portions. I'm always surprised that it's not way busier, it will certainly be our first port of call on the evening of 25th May! Also love Maria's pizza, have to get there early though as it's always so busy, we go the end of May and you're lucky to get a table heaven knows what it's like in July/August. _________________ Ooh ... can't wait to feel the sand in my toes |

| Willy's Restaurant at the Muses Hotel, Koukounaries is our favourite. The food is fantastic with a great choice. The prices are reasonable and the service is excellent. |

Maybe you think of Plateia? Kostas Goulas has opened a new taverna in 2004 called Plateia at the church square. Plateia means "Square". Some of you will remeber him as the former waiter of Aura. He make fantastic crepes, try them!! I think he is son of Georges at Aura Grill.. who makes a fantastic filled Lamb Countrystyle.. mmmm.
Can't wait to visit them again! |

Our favourite restaurant has to be Alexandros, without a doubt. Magda is so lovely, the food and the atmosphere with the live music are very special.
Maria's Pizza is another restaurant worth a visit. |

I know what you mean we often call in on Kostas when returning home for the evening for night cap.
Food must run in the blood, Kostas is most certainly the son of George. Now Kostas's girlfriend and ex owner of Glam (seven steps I think) has opened a taverna ELLADOS GEFSIS in Papadiamantis str at the junction of the high school.
I visited this tavern last week to try it out, I sincerely think that this place has potential as many locals came to drink coffee and partake in the occasional ouzo along with dinning, her ouzo was regarded as the best available on the Island but I will have to wait and see next time as I was unfortunately on antibiotics.
She also has a real passion about the ingredients she uses and how things should be prepared so give it a try.
You never know. Recommended |

There used to be a cluster of small tavernas at Papadiamantis street at the junction of the high school. In 94 I remember being invited into the kitchen to see what was on offer, it was the done thing then.
I did see the new taverna was busy and as Merlin said had locals present, Thats always a good sign ... _________________

Our favourite restaurant has to be 1901 in Skiathos Town, out of town would be Varelli in Troulos.
Although we haven't actually eaten there Plantanos would be up there simply for the superb location & wonderful views, I could sit there all day. |

Hi there HayleyJB
Good to meet another Varelli fan!
You will be there the week before me, I think. Do you leave on the 7 September? I fly in on that date.
Please say hello to Rosemary and Yiorgos at Varelli for me and tell them I'm looking forward to seeing them on the Friday.
Table 15 for me, as always!

Hi Guy, yes unfortunately we leave on the 7th Sept
We were last in Skiathos Sept 2006 and ate at Varellis three times in one week. I adore the Exohiko and cannot wait for 31st Aug. We're staying in Troulos again and have already decided to eat there on our first night. |

I love the Scuna restaurant in Skiathos Town. Such a beautiful & romantic setting, and the food is fantastic I think.
I hope it's still there this year. _________________ *The heart has no rainbow if the eyes have no tears* |

There was a post earlier in this thread by Merlin about Ellados Gefsis which is very well worth a visit. It's on Pap St where the road splits just before the high school and I think it is run by the girlfriend of Kostas (Chicken George's son).
We went there a couple of times in Sept/Oct and the food was very traditional, they offer dishes from all over Greece which were very tasty and authentic, ask about any dish and she will gladly tell you all about it.
This one is now on our 'must visit' list, the food is wonderful, the lady is so nice and the zucchini(sp?) cake is heavenly.
The kleftico is one of the best I've had - so if you would like a taste of real Greek food please try it. |

Is it the place with the somewhat unusual furniture, tables and chairs made out of what looks like driftwood? _________________ Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |
