Like it was before ???
What is it like now? Not been since 2003 and now I'm worried my favourite slobbing out haunt as pictured above isn't there anymore.
EDITED BIT
Just looked again and realised that there is grassy bits in front of the bar which had been replaced by a decking thing last time I was there....is that the difference or should I still be worried??? |

| I wish I could remember how to put photos on here. We were on the beach in June 2005 when the new bar was built and it arrived on a boat! We watched them build it too, talk about Wimpy built! |

I thought the new cantinas seemed to have settled into the landscape quite well. There was some nice wicker chairs under the trees and the food and drink was reasonably priced at the cantinas. The tuna salads were not like they used to be when Elton was there though .
The road down through the olive grove behind the beach had been opened up to cars and as a result the olive grove had become a rather dusty car park. It used to be great to walk down through the olive grove with the ciccadas and butterflies all around you.
What is missing is some decent toilets, certainly on Big Banana in June they were abysmal - just the two behind the old panayotis taverna which did not seem to be maintained at all.
The old tavernas including the one in the photo had been left to the elements and were just being used as shaded areas, might have been better if they had been taken away rather than left to decay.
That was last year - It changes from year to year, so in another five months - It may be different again ... _________________

I really don't like the sound of this. Anyone got any pics? The walk down the hill was just one of the factors that gave the place it's wow factor. |

this is the walk down the hill to Banana last May... looks the same to me as it did the first time I walked down that hill in 1986...
I hope this works...

Here's another, suejet, with the dear Mule that I would always share an apple with - (whose METAL halter was so tight that it was digging into his face... argh...)
I need to figure out how to make this pics smaller... tomorrow I'll get old Skiathos pics scanned and uploaded.

sorry, addressed my banana walk photos in response to Skidsy, not Suejet!
(it was late... 2 AM, after a 4 hour drive from a performance that was sorely underattended.... brain dead. the sight of the Banana walk was sooooothing.....) _________________ "If you want others to be happy, practice compassion.

Elle, regardless of who they were addressed to the pics are great. When I opened the thread and looked at the one of the walk down I could even recall the smell of the place.
By the way, noted your post...are you playing the same gigs as me |

I know this one..
This picture is from june/july 2006
I think I've posted it before on the board, but here it is again..
The metal halter is still there andin addition an open, bleeding wound on his
right shoulder.. with loads of flies and nasty stuff..
poor thing.
