Think we are now far enough down the line to tell out good news about finally buying a business in Skiathos. Looks like we are buying the Kazbar from Babs. We are out there from April and Steve (my hubby) will be working with current staff to learn the ropes!
No doubt hard work (for him!) but we really wanted a business that would keep us on our toes... we are a tadge too young to retire (although I think I could manage it...).
To all who I have asked advice from over the last 6 months or so - thanks loads and please - pop in for a drink and to meet us if you are on the island this season or next.
Still loads to sort out before we get there - hopefully nothing will go wrong - my head hasn't quite managed to grasp the realisation of what we are doing yet - but fingers crossed we will continue the bar's success and make Babs proud!

Good stuff. One of our regular haunts, the Kazbar.
Bee - was it you who asked advice about taking your dog? |

Hi Foxy - glad it is one of your haunts - we will no doubt get to meet you in person then!
Yes - it was me asking about taking dogs. To be honest, they have been the hardest work in the whole relocation thing so far... what with concerns over diseases, heat, poison etc etc. If only we worried about ourselves as much!
We have managed to get a lovely cottage in the hills (near to the Panorama restaurant) which allows the dogs, and has its own land and shady spots so they should be able to cope through the hot months.
They are both passported up, so can go back to the UK if required without having to spend time in quarantine.
Because of needing to drive them over there - we are having to hire a very expensive motorhome for 3 weeks - which also has to be returned to the UK before flying back out again to start working in the bar in May. Nightmare! We would have took them in our car - but two humans, two dogs and a lot of kit bundled into one car would be hellish!
But I couldn't have gone without them - so it will all be worth the effort in the long run I am sure...

Sorry, besides complaining about Foxy's avatar I wanted to congratulate Bee!
We will stop by and introduce ourselves in May - though i must confess that despite the fact we are lifelong musicians (and have spent our share of years past, playing r & r in bars) we re a bit boring and not the 'hang out in bars' types....
We'll come in for a quick toss and a 'steeni yamas!'
