Flying out for two weeks next Friday!! Only 9 sleeps to go! For those you've already been this year, what were the exchange rates like? Was it cheaper to get Euros in Skiathos or here before you went?
Thanks Jackie |

I've bought my euros for September as I was advised the rate is likely to drop even further. _________________ you heard it here first - BOJAN! |

| Hi Sandra, I'd still rather be in Skiathos than here so maybe I'll just get Euros tomorrow. Can't wait to see everyone and yes, I'll give Jade a big hug from you. |

| The exchange rate at the Ferry office on the corner of Pap St yesterday was 1.24 and has been steady at 1.23 - 1.24 for the past month, not sure how this compares with home as I haven't had a chance to check the rates here yet. |

Most places that I've seen here are only 1.21 so 1.23/1.24 sounds very good.
Let's hope the rate doesn't drop further or I might be staying in watching telly and eating Gyros in my room in September !!! _________________ Cherie

Mrs Whicker's rate of 1.23/1.24 is pretty good on Skiathos. I have been checking the rate daily in the UK as we had to transfer some funds to the island. It has been 1.20/1.21 at best here and 2 weeks ago was around 1.18 In the end I took a gamble and sent a pretty large Euro transfer to a Hotel and when it cleared my account we were surprised we had been given what they call the commercial rate which was 1.23. So it seems the rate on Skiathos is better than the UK tourist rate at present. The Bank here told me that for every £500 spending money you have, you will really only get about £430 when exchanged in the UK _________________ www.ClearSpray.co.uk |

You will probably find that this is because they do the exchange "for free". In fact they do nothing for free, what they do is give you a poor exchange rate and take the difference themselves as commision. They probably won't admit to that.... _________________ Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

Cherie : we did the Bank transfer last week and it cost £20 to send it Standard (up to 5 working days) or £27 for Urgent (1-2 days). You get a better rate than tourist holiday exchange - it was 1.20 the day we did the transfer for holiday money but we got 1.23 on the transfer. You have to ask them for their bank details including their IBAN number etc. and then its all straight forward. _________________ www.ClearSpray.co.uk |

| for everyone, ourselves included, the exchange rate at the moment is terrible.what you also have to watch out for is some of the so called trendy cafes and bars in town who are charging 4 euros for a coffee and 5 euros for a glass of wine.stick to the back street and out of the way traditional tavernas who still only charging 2 euros for both |
