Really fantastic break with brilliant weather after a poor start! Booked flights with XL who then later subcontracted to Air Malta. What a shower! Kept us waiting at Manchester Airport of 6 hours before telling us the flight was cancelled until the next day. Put us up at the airport but then had to check in and go through security again on Saturday morning. When we got on the aircraft it wasn't Air Malta it was Lat Charter!? We then sat on the tarmac for nearly 2 hours as the pilot couldn't get a slot! I understand the return flight was 3 hours delayed too but we went on the Thomas Cook flight 5 days later instead which was excellent. We are unfortunately booked on this flight again in July. They are even saying that as the flight was not cancelled only delayed they will not pay any compensation. XL have totally gone to pot since the Kosmar buy out.
The island looks beautiful with lots of flowers and butterflies, everything painted and clean and most things open. People have been asking about the taverna on Vromlimnos and this was open for it's first day whilst we were there.
We went to the boomerangers meal in Troulos on Monday last, and it was lovely to meet people, thanks for arranging Guy! Sorry we had to leave early but Zak was definitely past his sell by date! We now have a baby sitter lined up so next time we'll come alone!
Met with all our usual friends and met some new ones, one of the ladies who goes to my Greek night school was there so we met with her and husband and friends also.
Ate for the first time at the taverna on Sklitheri and this will definitely now be one of our favourites. lovely family and really special food, really well presented. Caught a star fish on the beach here but let him go again.
Lots of frappes on the old harbour watching the world go by and gyros lunches!
Can't wait for the next trip!

Hi Val and Kev, what a nightmare these airlines are just lateley!!!!!
Yio went to Skilithri, our favourite restaurant, had my birthday there last year with the table at the waters edge with all tea lights aound it (to keep the mozzies away really) but it looked good. It looks like a favourite for my special birthday July 9th, fancied somewhere different, but our discussion always ends back up at Skilithri.

We're back again on the 25th of July so unfortunately I guess we'll just miss you. That is of course if Air Malta actually get us there! I sent a letter of complaint to XL who we booked with and paid and received a letter back for them to say sorry, but not their problem and they have sent our letter of complaint to Malta and hope they respond!

Hi Val, we weren't on the Air Malta - we were with Monarch and all the Air Malta passengers sensibly parked themselves at the taverna.

We were delayed though - that's another story. Rolling Eyes

Lat Charter - as one rep at the airport said 'I think they missed the 'e' off Lat!'

I must have been very lucky in May with Air Malta then. We arrived at Skiathos half hour early( always good news for extra sunbathing and aspro krasi Smile

) and departed half an hour early ( had to walk at an English pace rather than a Greek one from the taverna as I saw the plane land!!)
Hope they get better for Sept. Cool
