Aghia Paraskevi (bus stop 16). There's a rocky reef a couple of metres out, that holds loads of fish (and bloody jellyfish!!). There's some decent rocks to the right as well.

all the beaches are great for snorkeling.
at both sides are usually rocks.
there is the best, as sandy parts in the middle are a bit boring.
best to walk there and then start, so you can save energy for the best scenery.
a few tricks of the trade:
cheep masks tend to fog up and to distort images.
a new mask needs to be treated so the silicone residue from factory is removed.
i found out toothpaste works good.
y apply it on the inside of the mask ,wait for 3 min and then wash it with plenty warm water.
repeat the process for the first few days.
always spit , rub and wash inside the mask before use every time.
warnings: respect the sea
3 things over to worry:
1) should always go in pairs so if one gets a foot cramp or gets into any other physical trouble help is near.
2) only dangerous thing in our seas are the sea erchings, but man they can be trouble so avoid them if you can. otherwise the only treatment is apply baby oil and wait for a month.
3) many idiots on speedboats, specially on august, that they use them for 2 weeks in the summer and are inexperienced and eager to have a good time.
the law says they must stay away from the beach, and to come there only at very low speeds but..........
if you hear the sound of an engine lift yr arm and make sure they see you.
the law says also a snorkeler must have a special red color balloon, on a string tied to his foot.

Do they have the same balloon rule in Spain?

Think he may be going snorkeling?

We enjoyed the snorkelling at Tsougria. There are rocky areas at either end of the beech. I saw a small octopus, brightly coloured star fish and several types of fish that I did not see on the main island. My wife enjoyed collecting the shells there - until I told her she should put them back. The outcrop to the right of the beach (as your looking out to sea) continues quite a distance around the island so it might be worth taking fins. If you don't know Tsougria try reading other postings, it's worth a trip out on the taxi boat.

we enjoyed snorkelling o Tsougria too,but as Foxy said Ag Pareskevi takes some beating , the rocks just of the left hand side, near Kolios, has some great fish down there, and if you drop some bread underneath ,they just seam to come from everywhere, but watch out for sea urchins, there are plenty around as the wife found out, painfully

Snorkel Mandraki

There's a shallow reef some 200m offshore teeming with fish. Don't walk around rocks bare feet anywhere on skiathos as you will stand on urchins & It will make you hobble for several days of your holiday

I snorkeled a fair bit off achladies beach.

Its better at the watersports side where you can work your way round the rocks and around the end of the bay. Lots of fish, urchins, anenome etc to play with. Still looking for octopus though. Even saw some crab which i find hard to spot in greece
