We used to frequent Ilias Orchard or travel out of the village. There are tavernas linked to the hotels like the Muse but to be honest we only ate there for a change or when I didn't fancy travelling to Troulos or Town for something a bit more inspiring.

We are staying at the Noula apartments this year where they offer freshly prepared and cooked meals in the evening around the pool. If you haven't got small children to entertain and don't mind waiting for the scran it is good for the odd night. They also used to do a barbecue night which was all inclusive and fantastic.

PS. I am not on commission.

When at that end of the island, we always eat at Apostolios. Michaels place. We didn't make it in 2006 and I'm told that the taverna has had some work done, almost to the extent that it was difficult to find the entrance!

No problems at all.

We stayed there on our very first visit to Skiathos that seems a lifetime ago,
It was just a couple of apartments in those days, no pool and very peacful.

Have a wonderful holiday.

Me too, we were there back in October, Michael had extended kitchen operations into the old Hotel Jupiter, and the taverna is much bigger, allthough the entrance to the taverna is still the same. Michael is a lovely man and so many customers go up to him and say goodbye and have their photo taken with him.
Must say the new taverna looks like its been assembled from Old mooring warps and drift wood, from the beach Shocked However the welcome was as warm as ever, the food is good, priced very reasonably and Chris left with a flower and a kiss as usual Rolling Eyes ...

We stay in koukounaries every year. The Agustera bar is fantastic, the bar staff are brilliant and the food, especially breakfast, is great. Oh, and they do great pizzas as a change to a big meal. There is a chinese/indian restaurant there, the food is ok but the service is not. The restaurant at Muses (where we stay) is fab, infact we ate there most nights last year and hardly went into Skiathos town of an evening. There is a fish restaurant if you are into that sort of thing. There is a restaurant, the orchard or something next to the Agustera bar, also known as the runway because of the lights at the front of the place, can't knock the food bu the service is really bad.

I knew someone would mention it eventually. I've been trying to remember the name of this bar since yesterday!

Hi Skidsy. I guess you have frequented the place before then?

Strange as it may seem I have only been in the bar a couple of times as we always seem to end up somewhere else. I must make a point of ending up there this summer.

The Taverna now stretches from its original position by the road to the old Hotel Jupiter, and continues with its nautical theme with pictures of the ships that Michael has sailed in over his 20 odd years at Sea. We have had many meals there and have enjoyed them all.
