How beautiful.... and how QUIET it looks! I would love to spend a winter on Skiathos - one of these years, we will and sooner than later...
That looks like Monica-the-dog's caique, all by it's lonesome in the distance...
Where we live in northern California is the same latitude as Skiathos. We are in the midst of a near drought here, the driest season in years and years, almost one for the history books. Incredibly COLD but very dry for months, with little or no rain in the forecast. We started out with a fairly decent and damp autumn but that was it.
Is Skiathos experiencing a DRY winter, moreso than usual? I know (I think???) our weather patterns are probably dependent upon entirely different currents... a musician, you know, not a scientist... _________________ "If you want others to be happy, practice compassion.

Its an El Nino year and thats probably affecting you in California.
Merlin has said that the weather in Skiathos is different this winter and that it is very dry. But the weather is very strange over here in UK too. Its like early spring (In the south) with early summer shrubs and trees here coming into blossom. _________________

| Actually it's been pretty cold in the South of England. I'm in West London right now & it's -4 degrees. With the clear blue skies in the picture it's easy to assume it's warm - I'm guessing it's not. |

Sure the weather was cold and he locals put on there coats
Sitting in the winter sun if you closed your eyes you just may be able to convince yourself that it was early May/
The main topic of concerned was with water reserves and nature waking up to early……..
Where did winter go ?
Tourists already |

"Nature waking up too early"
We were discussing that last night. It's been really mild here lately & the blackbirds are chasing each other, daffodils are out & a load of ducks have just flown over.
Having said that, yesterday was thick fog & the cars were covered in ice. |

Weather here has been really weird. Last year broke many records, and this year has started out in the same direction.
2006 Records.
July - warmest on record
August - wettest on record
September - warmest on record
October - warmest on record
November - warmest on record
December - warmest on record
Warmest autumn season on record, warmest year on record. That after one of the hardest winter seasons for 50 years!
2007 Records
January - warmest on record and wettest on record and first time since records began that those two records have been broken in the same month in the same year.
Nice pictures by the way. _________________ Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

Hurts doesn't it mate? It's also strange when you land after a couple of years of missing Skiathos. Feels as though you were only there a few weeks ago. |
