hi all, i'm sally, came back from skiathos today just visiting my mum ,so thought i would tell you what a great time ive had over the past two weeks, mum text me about taverna next to victoria super market but unfortunately it was not open at that time until three nights ago it has a sign above the entrance which says tabepna bar, as soon as the restaurant opened curiosity got the better of me and i just had to give it a try, on the menu the restaurant is called kalivi and i can comfirm it is the very same as the one pictured with the hanging nets.
i got burnt on a few days and discovered an excellent way of releiving the pain, on some of the beeches ,you can find large stones grey in colour and have lots of silver streaks in them of which i've been told was agate, i placed the rocks (smooth ones of course) onto the sore areas and after aprox 10 mins the rocks had turned blackish colour and they had drawn the heat out of the burnt area, i then put the rocks on the floor to cool back down, then placed them whenever i felt a bit sore, can any one explain this miricle.
just to let you all know the jelly fish have now disappeared just the odd one left on the beech. |

Think I might just go and have a glass of wine to celebrate, well it is lunch time, although I work from home I still allow myself a lunch break, well occasonally, it's normally the only chance I get to do the house work. _________________ Karen&Phil

You are forgiven Patsy, what's in a name? It's the quality of the food that counts, having said that, it can change, and depends what you have, we have been in restaurants and had the best meal ever gone back again within the same week tried something different and it has been awful!!!
Phil and I had our wedding anniversary at the Windmill with 4 friends and we had a terrible meal, not been back since, maybe we will give it a try for our anniversary or my birthday this time.

Patsy, I sent a reply to this earlier either I did something wrong or it's gone into thin air!!!!!! What I said was, we love the food at the Villa Rosa used to stay there regularly when we first started going to Skiathos about 16 years ago not been back to eat for a couple of years, not sure if they have got the same chef but it sounds like it. We must try it again this year. The reason is, we like to try different restaurants, especially ones with nice views, thats why we like the Scuna on the waters edge and Infinity Blue overlooking the ocean, to name but a few. Going back to Villa Rosa, we have watched the children grow up Marcos Maria and Joanna, remember being there when Marcus got engaged to Rania who I believe have a child now maybe two this year.
SIX WEEKS TONIGHT WE WILL BE SITTING HERE ENJOYING A DRINK OR TWO WAITING FOR THE TAXI TO COME AND PICK US UP AT 2.30 _________________ Karen&Phil

Villa Rosa is amazing but, somehow, in the wrong place!!
The food is first class, especially considering it doesn't have all that many tables.
So, for the first time ever, my intention is to have a taverna plan for my week in Skiathos, which is in just 15 days.
Here's how it looks at the moment. Remember I'm in Troulos, and won't be travelling to eat!;
Day 1 Varelli
Day 2 Paradiso
Day 3 Agelika
Day 4 Kalivi
Day 5 Rosa
Day 6 Undecided, suggestions welcome
Day 7 Varelli
These are all evenings. Lunch will be at Ilias' taverna on Mandraki Elias beach, weather permitting.
What a fine 7 days await me!!

Hi Darrell
I remember the Star I am sure they used to have a good Greek night there years ago when we used to stay at the Rosa, then all of a sudden it closed up but they left the bar there with bottlles behind for ages all overgrown now, that's if I have the right place but I am sure i have. _________________ Karen&Phil

Hi Guy
Day 6 you could go to the Sunrise I find the food good there, or maybe it's because of the handsome Stavros . _________________ Karen&Phil

Also Christiakos bar Christiakos remembered us both also which was a nice, touch, we shaked hands and then had a hour on the net there while i watched skysports news lol.
Hermes where we stayed had great food also.
